Position Summary

The Engineering Manager plays a critical role in overseeing process efficiency and reliability within the Williamsport facility. They will manage the local manufacturing engineer(s) and industrial engineer(s) to ensure equipment and process designs align with operational needs. They will also supervise maintenance activities to guarantee equipment reliability and minimize downtime. This position will also have responsibility for Continuous Improvement activities targeted to enhance processes, reduce waste, and foster a culture of safety and innovation, contributing to the overall growth and competitiveness of the business.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities

  • Champion process improvement opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance overall operational efficiency

  • Develop and maintain lean transformation plan including Value Streams Maps to identify key opportunities to eliminate waste and improve performance based on strategy deployment and business results

  • Includes leading Lean Assessment and developing improvement strategy with Plant Leadership based on results

  • Champions the layout at plant level and project level to ensure alignment with space utilization and flow strategy across the plant by conducting layout kaizen events and partnering with operations to identify optimal flow

  • Recruit, train, and manage a skilled team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and high performance

  • Leads implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices to gain tangible improvements of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that address performance levels in machine and maintenance reliability:

  • Ex: Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Planned and Scheduled Work Completion Rate, Preventative Maintenance wrench time as Percentage of Total Work, and Emergency Repairs as Percentage of Scheduled Hours

  • Partner with Brand Engineering resources to lead local projects, ensuring alignment with production goals and deadlines

  • Lead investigations into equipment failures or process inefficiencies, utilizing root cause analysis and Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) techniques to implement effective solutions

  • Develop and manage budgets for engineering, maintenance, and continuous improvement projects, ensuring resource allocation is optimal

  • Has hands-on ability to troubleshoot, repair, program, and reverse engineer/modify existing equipment

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, fostering a safe working environment for all employees and supporting sustainability initiatives

  • Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors to source equipment, parts, and services necessary for maintenance and improvement initiatives

  • Keeps current with latest equipment technologies and maintenance methods. Promotes importance of data and service quality within maintenance community

  • Minimal travel (10%) required

Educational & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, technical or trade school certification or equivalent required

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Certification preferred

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years' practical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment working with automated equipment required

  • Previous leadership experience required with skills capable of motivating and developing high-performing teams

  • Project Management experience is strongly preferred

  • Welding, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveying systems experience preferred

  • Proficient knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)/Automation/Fanuc and Motoman 6 axis robots a plus

  • Experience implementing or utilizing a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to improve awareness of process performance and identify improvement opportunities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
