The Anthropic Labs team serves as an internal accelerator tasked with rapidly prototyping and evaluating emerging AI capabilities from our research teams that are currently too nascent for our core product development process. The team's mandate is to validate product-market fit of research breakthroughs, build lightweight prototypes, collaborate closely with researchers, and generate learnings to streamline hand-off to product teams.
Responsibilities
Manage a team of 6-10 versatile engineers, designers, and PMs to execute on the Labs team mission
Prioritize the team's projects and resources to maximize impact in validating cutting-edge AI capabilities
Foster a culture of rapid experimentation, validated learning, and seamless collaboration with research
Design team processes for effective prototyping, user testing, product discovery, and transitioning projects
Hire and coach top technical, design and product talent to maintain a high-performing and adaptable team
Drive adoption of Labs' prototypes and learnings to inform company-wide product strategy and planning
Represent the Labs perspective and roadmap in discussions with research, product, and leadership stakeholders
You may be a good fit if you
5+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing teams in ambiguous environments
Deep passion for responsibly pushing the boundaries of AI capabilities in service of Anthropic's mission
Track record of enabling rapid product experimentation and iterative development of early-stage technologies
Excellent cross-functional leadership skills to build alignment between research, engineering, product and design
Strong strategic thinking to identify high-potential research breakthroughs and paths to productization
Excellent communication skills to tell the story of Labs' work and impact to leadership and the company
Adept at attracting, mentoring and retaining top talent from diverse backgrounds and skill sets
Technical understanding across full-stack engineering, ML/AI, data science and modern product development
