This position reports to

Lab Supervisor

Your role and responsibilities

Set up, conduct performance tests, evaluate test results on all types of electric motors, and submit data to supervisor or engineering May participate in development of test procedures, the design, construction, verification and maintenance of test equipment Must achieve and maintain certification to perform the appropriate testing by the following agencies: CSA, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and NVLAP Must achieve and maintain lab certification to perform the following types of testing: motor efficiency, sound, vibration, AC and DC brake tests, AC and DC no load saturation tests, AC and DC heat runs, thermal development testing per UL and CSA standards and other types of electric motor testing including testing electric motors with drives Must obtain and maintain forklift, hoist and crane, power industrial truck and scissor lift operator's license Perform troubleshooting assignments for electric motors and equipment Work with large motors and high power (motors up to 500HP) Stay current on monthly safety training

Qualifications for the role

  • 2 year degree in Electrical or Electronics field and 0 to 3 years relevant experience OR HS/GED and a minimum of 5 years related experience

  • Required skills: Ability to read schematics and drawings required and basic computer skills required (Windows, email, Teams, Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.)

  • Preferred skills: Knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, dynamometers, thermocouples, power meters, transducers, etc.), single and three phase AC motors, and DC motors and servo motors

  • Experience in ISO-17025 quality system, machining, industrial electricity, vibration, airflow, sound levels, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), CSA and UL motor standards is an advantage

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
