Job Summary

Job Summary:

Aerohive is seeking an experienced individual as an engineering lab manager, working within the products organization and facilitating the growing laboratory needs for software engineering QA and development.

Successful candidate is required to have experience with lab management, computer networking knowledge, and own the lab infrastructure.



  • Own the operations of development, QA and customer test lab and be the point of contact for all issues pertaining to the lab and its usage

  • Implementing and maintaining lab best practices in keeping with company and industry standards. Work with facilities and IT teams.

  • Establish processes and procedures for users of the lab environment to for efficient use of the lab.

  • Ensure that the lab infrastructure setup and inventory is properly managed and maintained.

  • Ensure maximum uptime and usage of equipment.

  • Maintain a safe and healthy lab environment for all users.

  • Work closely with the product team to plan & budget for the growing and future needs for the lab.



  • 5+ industry experience in managing a lab in software R&D environment

  • CCNA or equivalent knowledge and experience required

  • VMWare ESXi and vCenter knowledge required

  • Network Monitoring System experience required. Preferably PRTG

  • WiFi network administration desired

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Process automation is preferred


BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent degree

Position Summary: This Mechanical Engineering Manager candidate will be responsible for R&D project development including high precision motion control, mechatronics, Opto-mechanical design, and complete system-level component packaging and design. Great hands-on mechanical skills and willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved are a must. The right candidate will quickly earn the trust of the team fostering teamwork and supporting a challenging but collaborative design culture. Must be able to quickly develop a high-level understanding of existing product architecture, and be a visionary team leader providing high-level decision making and technical guidance for the team. A strong focus on frequent communication of priorities, project planning status with the team and a clear focus on execution is a must. Roles and Responsibilities: * Required characteristics: * Robust SolidWorks skills and experience with large assembly management best practices * Critical, but highly respectful reviewer of design implementation * A solid foundation of FEA expertise * Expert Mechanical Design skillset * Strong desire to mentor early career Engineers * Collaborate with Optical, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and Systems teams to define * System Requirements * Machine Architecture * Test Plans * Create block diagrams, schematics, and flow charts defining system architecture and behavior * Work with suppliers to identify system components or define custom system components * Mechatronics experience * Defining motion system architecture * Motor and position feedback device selection * Sensor selection * Provide critical review of procedures and work instructions * Desirable experience (Candidate expected to have experience in some of the following categories, not all) * Project management training and expertise * Thermal simulation capabilities * Matlab capabilities * LabView capabilities * Vibration instrumentation and modeling * Thermal instrumentation * Understanding of NFPA 79 * Semi S2, S8 * ISO EN 13849 * ISO 60204 Required Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree or higher * 10+ years of experience * Hands-on, can-do attitude * Vision to contribute to modern, simplified machine architecture Nanometrics Incorporated Milpitas CA
