Director, Engineering Lab
The Director, Engineering Lab provides leadership and oversight to the organization as it relates to the Engineering Lab. This role will drive the effective daily operations of the lab and testing environment for WOW! and will be directly responsible for leading engineers, budgeting, complex problem solving and are ultimately accountable for the overall productivity and effectiveness of the Lab.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:
Lead a team of lab and WOW! engineers who build, operate and maintain the development and production lab instances.
Manage and oversee all daily lab operations facilities and infrastructure with support from Head-End team.
Ownership of lab strategy, roadmap, and execution of resultant plan for the evolution and increased capabilities of the lab.
Ensure technology and feature alignment that supports POC, end to end validation and testing of the WOW! product portfolio.
Drive testing processes in partnership with the WOW! QA organization.
Manage and develop lab budget to ensure effective and efficient use of capital.
Work with engineering and technology teams to plan the build, deployment and accessibility of lab infrastructure for all teams with support from the Engineering Program Management organization.
Manage the security of network and infrastructure resources within the lab environment.
Provide oversight and work with vendors and outside contractors to ensure logistics of incoming and outgoing equipment with support from WOW! administration.
Manage onsite work teams, and lab accessibility for vendors and WOW! teams with support from Engineering Program Management
Maintain and foster relations with key partners and vendors, turning broad corporate objectives into strategic partnerships
Provides input on contracts relating to lab operations to upper management and/or legal
Ultimate owner of KPI's and performance standards for the Lab

10 years of experience leading and managing a team
Minimum 10 years' experience as an engineer or manager in the Cable/MSO industry
Expert knowledge Service Provider networks with an emphasis on DOCSIS, MPLS, BGP, OSPF protocols and last mile access technologies
Experience with Optical networks (PON, DWDM, SONET)
Experience with SDN and NFV
Experience with CICD and DevOps
Experience with Data Center and/or Head End environments including facilities, power, and HVAC
Experience with Video distribution networks (IP and/or Analog)
Experience with IP Telephony networks
Knowledge of QA and test automation best practices
Knowledgeable with Scrum/Agile
Able to interpret and convey complex information while being an influencer
Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and guide SMEs to resolution when sufficient data and information may not be available
Able to create a team environment that is high performing and works at a high velocity
Strong organization skills and detail oriented
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally within and outside of the organization
