As an Engineering Intern, you will be involved in the company's environmental, construction, structural and engineering projects. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Perform fundamental design and modeling tasks and assist in preparing permit applications, CAD, or GIS work.

  • Evaluate, select, and apply appropriate engineering techniques to assigned work.

  • Participate in data research, collection, and compilation efforts.

  • Analyze and correlate scientific and engineering data and recognize discrepancies in results using a series of related detailed steps or processes.

  • Assist in preparation of reports, studies, and technical memoranda.

  • Engage in continuing professional development. This is a terrific opportunity to apply your academic learning on a real-world project and gain valuable experience in the process. We're looking for students pursuing a Bachelors in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a strong G.P.A. and a passion for engineering. If you enjoy learning "on-the-job" and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a good driving record is required.

Electrical Engineering Internship Job Description: Applicants for this electrical engineering internship position will support MACOM engineers in the development of high-speed optical receivers. The position is physically located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In the high-speed optical receiver group, we create products for test and measurement applications that convert broad-band optical signals into electrical signals that range from DC to 100 GHz. The fabrication of the photodiodes, the design of the opto-electronic assembly, and the manufacturing and test of finished products are all done in the Ann Arbor site. This internship will provide exposure to the whole design process for creating high-speed opto-electronic devices. Responsibilities: * Create a testing station for our receiver products at the 1KHz to 100MHz low frequency range * Modulate the input light as well as measuring the electrical output from the receiver * Identify the required equipment, set up and debug, as well as verify the accuracy of the test (under the supervision of mentor). * Create concept design for high-speed optical receivers (HSOR) * Prototype new HSOR products * Design test sets for RF and optical measurements * Validation testing of HSOR products * Analyze results, create reports, and communicate with the team Qualifications: * Working toward a BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics (junior or senior) * One year of experience in the primary focus area is preferred * Familiarity with microwave/analog design and fiber optics is preferred * Excellent oral and written communication skills Binoptics Corporation Ann Arbor MI
