Engineer - INTERNSHIP (graduates from 2023/2024/2025

Your Day to Day:

  • Knowledge and experience working to nuclear quality assurance programs that meet the requirements of CAN/CSA-N285.0 or NQA-1.

  • Preparing design registration packages for pressure retaining systems and components for CANDU nuclear power plants.

  • Preparing clear and concise design reports or technical specifications.

  • Performing hand calculations and applying design-by-rule formulae.

  • Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment.

  • Perform project engineering functions to ensure customer deliveries and expectations are met.

  • Performing Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.

  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques.

  • Supporting the manufacture of components, the resolution of manufacturing queries and assessment of non-conformances.

  • The ability to perform preliminary engineering calculations

  • Produce and review detailed drawings & bills of materials

  • Specify or evaluate appropriate purchased components

  • Review of designs and drawings for accuracy, material selection and manufacturability

  • Demonstratable knowledge of material properties and the behavior of materials and structures under multiple load combinations.

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering/design documents for both nuclear and conventional systems of Nuclear Power Plants

  • Attend walk-downs, site visits or customer meetings with Senior and Intermediate Engineers as requested

  • Provide execution of design/analysis/test/commissioning of complex equipment and systems through the entire product life cycle

  • Preparation of design documentation, technical specifications, applicable codes and standards, development and test plans and engineering quotation

  • Application of design for manufacturability techniques

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable company, technical and regulatory standards

  • Provide technical support to CAD, Procurement, Manufacturing, Test, Quality personnel

  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

  • Adhere to on-time/on-budget criteria associated with project commitments and customer success

  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers

  • Provide technical support to Sales and Marketing personnel on new business opportunities

Who you are:

  • You will be in the process of completing a post-secondary education Diploma or Degree from a recognized Mechanical Engineering Technical Program, and be in good academic standing.

  • This is a challenging position that will require a solid technical background and as you will be working as part of a team, strong interpersonal and communication abilities including literacy skills are essential. You will possess problem solving skills plus a creative yet methodical approach.
