Here in North Charleston, SC, Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC is writing an exciting chapter in Daimler's history as we add the first U.S. van production plant for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, in addition to our existing assembly operation for Sprinter and METRIS vans. Job Overview:

Reporting to the Engineering Facilities Manager, the Engineering Intern provides the best possible support by assisting with all aspects of factory planning and engineering and helps to ensure that ongoing projects run smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Support managing projects from tendering process to final acceptance

  • Cost analysis of projects and ongoing services

  • Support Feasibility analysis of optimization projects

  • Improve transparency of project-related action items

  • Elaborate and improve process documentation

  • Optimize daily processes with new ideas

  • Create overview and updated detailed schedules

  • Develop and track useful KPIs

  • Coordinate project steps with plant operations

  • Read and interpret drawings

  • Be a competent contact for external business partners

  • Training and experience in core area of study

  • Study and improve plant safety measures

  • Assist where needed by the department or other areas

  • Assist with leading meetings

Having graduated within the past 12 months or working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Business or a related degree is required to participate in the intern program.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Metris van was added to the assembly line in 2015.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC announced in March 2015 that it will invest $500 million in construction of a new Sprinter production plant, in addition to an expansion of existing operations. In July 2016, MBV officially broke ground on the site of its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade.

More than 112,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.

Responsibilities: * Supports project management and milestone tracking * Act as liaison between Van plants worldwide to improve communications and align processes * Increase transparency of project-related task requirements * Create action plans to optimize process documentation using input from Van facilities worldwide * Translate, edit, and proofread technical and non-technical documents. * Coordinate project steps with plant as well as van operations * Optimize daily processes with new ideas * Competent contact with international business partners * Feasibility analysis of optimization projects * Work on special projects as assigned * Leading the design, logistics, and facilitation of large meetings * Providing reports, presentations, inputs to achieve successful operations * Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Business or relevant degree is required to participate in the intern program. * Analytical thinking, ability to work systematically and independently, ability to develop complex solutions. * Fluent in English (German and/or Spanish also preferred) Opportunities: Learn or improve the German language; cultural exchange with German interns.
