Engineering Services & Products Company is a progressive and growing company that is looking for interns to join our creative team of Engineers and support staff to contribute to the engineering and design of buildings and other related products. Our Engineers and Engineering support staff are very hard-working, smart and goal-oriented. The interns hired for this position should expect to learn facets of building engineering and design and will leave with invaluable skills and industry knowledge.
Position Details:
The person in this position will contribute to the engineering and design of buildings and other related products. A strong applicant will bring technical aptitude coupled with a desire for hands-on learning. In return they will be given challenging tasks with an opportunity to learn and expand their portfolio of technical and business skills. The person may work with different departments and outside vendors to identify and develop solutions to company and customer needs.
Essential Duties and

Responsibilities:

Gain Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC Steel Construction Manual, and other resources.
Learn and utilize Structural Analysis software (RISA-3D), Microsoft Excel, and/or other software tools for building engineering for customer specific projects.
Will be given some common engineering processes or calculations to review, come up with ideas, and implement to improve the speed and accuracy. This may involve utilizing Macros and/or VBA programming within Microsoft Excel.
Maintain clear information on project goals, time/costs and progress.

Ideal Applicant Possesses:

An in-process engineering degree related to structural or civil engineering.
Basic experience with structural analysis software (RISA-3D preferred) .
Basic experience with CAD software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD preferred) .
Basic knowledge of structural analysis. Knowledge of steel design a plus.
Efficient communication skills with an ability to manage small conflicts constructively.
Ability to work effectively in teams or alone.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. VBA programming experience a plus.

VIEW JOBS 3/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-15T00:00 This individual will work with the Continuous Improvement Manager and will be responsible for supporting and assisting in the organization, planning, implementation and follow-through of continuous improvement initiatives established within the Company’s Strategic Plan. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will participate in, coordinate and lead a wide range of activities that are designed to improve on-time delivery, productivity, quality, cost and safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This entry-level Continuous Improvement Engineer position is the primary support role to the Continuous Improvement Manager in that individual’s job duties. In addition to those responsibilities will include: Develop competency in wide range of engineering methods, Lean tools and quality standards. Coaches employees in the use and implementation of CI, Quality Assurance and Lean Principals. Provide regular reports of data and actions to measure progress against the site objectives as needed. Facilitate successful 5S, value stream mapping, kaizen, problem solving and rapid improvement process events with both internal and external consultants, customers and suppliers, with a major emphasis on locally focused improvement. Provides support for all follow-throughs required to sustain the improvements established during the events. Assist in the collection of data for tracking improvement and performs statistical analysis. Assist in the coordination identifying and implement best practices across the Company as needed. Other tasks as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing techniques Effective interpersonal skills, system and change implementation skills, strong verbal and written communication skills Must maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding employees and company business A demonstrated ability for problem solving and root cause analysis. Knowledge of industrial safety systems and regulations such as OSHA workplace regulations Must be able to lead the activities of other employees to achieve company goals Excellent organization, time management and resiliency skills Demonstrated ability to conduct effective meetings, and seek clarity of critical information Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related degree 2-5 year’s experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to read blueprints or other engineering documents and work orders. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
