Education and/or Experience:

Attending a two-year or four-year college for Design or Mechanical Engineering major (Please provide a copy of your transcript

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a good working knowledge of Solidworks, 2D and 3D software packages and Microsoft Office.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with multiple functions to coordinate the flow of information.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate engineering requirements.

  • Accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness.

  • Ability to provide support and assistance to co-workers as appropriate

What the Sr. R&D Technician contributes to Cardinal Health: Under direction of the Manager of Research and Development, this position is responsible for supporting R&D engineers in new product development by preparing prototypes, testing, correcting, and preparing related tooling. The person will be involved in writing tests protocol and conclusion reports. This position will require you to work onsite at the Chicopee Manufacturing Facility. Typical hours are M-F 8am-4:30pm. Accountabilities: * Perform mechanical, electrical, and adhesion testing using a variety of testing equipment and product specs * Responsible for accurate data entry and data analysis based on testing * Maintain equipment calibration for all R&D test equipment * Conduct product evaluations * Performance testing for new product introductions and existing line changes * Create and build prototypes of new products with support of Engineering team * Participate in problem solving for new/improved product design * Assist with manufacturing phase-in of new/improved products * Develops test methods, test fixtures, and set-ups * Perform intra-laboratory testing requests * Maintain lab notebook with proper authorizations * Write test protocols and report test results with conclusions * Other projects as assigned by the Manger of Research and Development. Qualifications: Experience: * Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in related field * 2+ years of experience as an Engineering/R&D Tech or related field * Ability to read and interpret product specs * Experience with Microsoft Excel & Word Additional Skills: * Strong attention to detail * Ability to work closely with Engineering team * Ability to independently manage multiple projects & prioritize tasks * Excellent written and verbal communication skills What is expected of you and others at this level: * Applies knowledge and company policies to complete a variety of tasks * Demonstrates a working knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibility * maintains appropriate licenses, training, and certifications * Works on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgment in resolving issues * May assist in recommendation of processes on new assignments * Adheres to all quality guidelines * Works with limited supervision.
