Play-Well TEKnologies (http://www.play-well.org) is an educational enrichment company that introduces children in grades K-8 to STEM concepts using LEGO components.

We are hiring additional smart, creative, dynamic LEGO Engineering Instructors to join our team delivering our programs throughout Boulder county ranging from North Denver to Boulder and surrounding towns including: Westminster, Brighton, Arvada, Broomfield. This part-time position includes teaching daily after-school programs throughout the school year, and full day camp programs during the summer.

Buckle up - this is hard work! Lugging 40 pound totes in and out of your car, leading excited kids through challenging projects, managing classroom conflicts, cleaning up all that LEGO - this will be the toughest job you'll ever love!

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability during 3-5 weekday afternoons per week a must during school year, full weekdays during summer months.

  • Experience and passion for teaching K-8 students in a classroom or summer camp setting.

  • STEAM related coursework or experience a plus but not required - we provide paid training!

  • Must have a reliable vehicle to transport teaching materials and commute to teaching sites, and must be comfortable driving Highway 36 corridor from Boulder to North Denver towns.

  • Pre-employment background check is required.

This is a part-time hourly position, 15 - 20 hours/week (more during summer). Play-Well pays a minimum of 3 hours per daily class session. Paid drive time over 1 hour round trip/day. Pay rate is $15.50/hour during training, $17.50/hour full rate.

WHO WE ARE:

At Play-Well TEKnologies, kids dive into our classes and exercise their innate gift for building. They come away understanding fundamental principles of engineering and physics. The experience boosts their confidence, creativity and ability to collaborate.

We provide project-based programs designed to teach principles and methods of engineering to children, ages 5 - 14, using LEGO. Our curriculum is designed by engineers, scientists, artists, and creative thinkers and tinkerers. Utilizing over 20,000 pieces of LEGO for each class, we engage our students in solving real-world engineering challenges that explore concepts in physics, architecture, and engineering. Our goal is to have our students foster a greater appreciation of how things work, and encourage the qualities of inquisitiveness, self-reliance, and self-confidence in children. We have been growing future engineers since 1997.

Perform and/or direct the performance of all Technical service requests, insuring that work performed in these areas is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience. It is also followed up with adequate clean up. Check malfunctioning equipment and ascertains corrective action required to restore to satisfactory operating condition. Provide training and supervision aimed at expanding the capabilities of the Technical operations staff. Specific duties include, but not limited to: Demonstrating the proper use and care of tools and instruments, giving hands on instruction in basic technical maintenance, safety, and trouble shooting procedures, recommending relevant outside engineering courses for enrollment and instilling an overall level of professionalism in manner and appearance. Supervise and implement the preventative maintenance program. Specific duties include but are not limited to: scheduling of preventative maintenance with a minimum disruption of building services, performing and/or delegating preventative maintenance tasks to the appropriately qualified maintenance staff member, orders parts and equipment required for repair, maintenance and installation of new equipment and facilities, and maintains inventory. Direct the performance of contracted maintenance work as needed. Specific tasks include but are not limited to: insuring the timely performance of maintenance contract work, overseeing the fulfillment of equipment warrantee obligations by the installer and securing equipment manuals and drawings from the installers/contractors. Insure the availability of an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies. Specific duties include, but not limited to: Preparing and submitting purchase-order requests, developing sources for stock materials and performing periodic checks for supplies. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and minimum of four years experience in complete building operations. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES Universal CFC certification required. Additional certification in one or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles and to understand operating budgets. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.
