This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment.

Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside of the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation.

Major Duties:

  • Operates gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler type traction, such as road graders, tractors with bulldozers or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, excavators, backhoes, wheel loader, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments.

  • Operates motor grader up to and including the Caterpillar 16/160 or John Deer 772 (or equivalent), with up to 16-foot blade.

  • Operates dozer up to and including a Caterpillar D-9 (or equivalent).

  • Operates a variety of industrial type wheel or track loaders and backhoes. Equipment is used to load soil, rock, gravel or trash from stockpiles or pits.

  • Operates up to 14 cubic yard straight dump trucks or truck tractor with belly or side dump trailers for the purpose of moving dirt, blacktop and course materials for roadway and shoulder, hauling riprap, barriers, and logs.

  • Incumbent must possess a CDL Class A by close of announcement. (SCREEN OUT).

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  • Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT)

  • Operation of motor vehicles

  • Work practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order)

  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)

  • Ability to drive safely (motor vehicles)

  • Ability to operate safely (non-motor vehicle)

  • Reliability and dependability as an Engineering Equipment Operator
