Job Description

A Lead Architect is a position that partners with key stakeholders in the organization to explore and implement solutions that are aligned to Lennox IT and Business Strategy. This role will focus on Engineering Applications such as PLM, CAD, integration between PLM and ERP, and various engineering simulation platforms. A background in Engineering Applications such as PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, 3D CAD, FEA, CFD, or CAE is a must have. An understanding of engineering processes such as Configuration Management, CAD Data Management, and Test Management is desirable. The aptitude and eagerness to tinker with trending technologies such as Android, iOS, Raspberry Pi, etc. is a differentiator.

  • Conducts workshops to map out business processes to identify challenges and gaps; articulates opportunities for real improvements that impact time-to-market, cost reductions, or increased quality

  • Defines business use cases that translate into technology needs

  • Investigates technologies and conducts proof-of-concepts (POC) to meet the business needs; needs to be hands-on with the technology

  • Develops business cases for proposed technology projects define the problem, propose the solution, and explain the project business value

  • Devises solutions to the articulated problem, including the solution architecture and how it fits into the larger enterprise

  • Manages own projects drives toward target dates, manages risks and issues, ensures projects are on-time and within budget; brings visibility to issues and bottlenecks

  • Responsible for quality of the solutions through the SDLC process

  • Oversees development of solutions by onshore or offshore resources; provides technical coaching and mentorship of resources

  • Conducts project review meetings with the business stakeholders

  • Drives the operationalization of the solution the software is not the solution; the process enablement is the solution

Qualifications

  • Wide-ranging experience and advanced knowledge in the following areas: Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Configuration Management and Change Management, Model Based Design

  • Experience in 3D modeling and CAD support is desirable

  • Experience in Engineering Analysis such as CFD, FEA, or fluid dynamics is helpful

  • Programming in C++, Visual Basic, ASP.NET, Java is desirable

  • Previous experience as an Application Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer is desirable

  • Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through

  • Problem-solving and technology exploration mentality interested in getting hands-on with technology trends such as Augmented or Virtual Reality, mobile devices and applications, web applications

  • Recognizes and manages technical, organizational, and project risks; not shy about bringing issues to the forefront

  • Strong consulting skills comfortable in leading workshops and discussions

  • Self-sufficient responsible for planning, executing, testing, and deploying solutions

  • Business acumen to properly understand priorities, make decisions, take risks, and not fear failure

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

  • Domain experience - IT or Engineering positions in the Manufacturing Industry

  • 4+ years of domain experience

  • Willing to travel periodically based on business need

While this position includes hands-on development work, it also focuses a majority of the time on technical leadership, which includes code reviews, coaching engineers, documenting and evolving coding standards and best practices, performing data modeling, participating in advanced troubleshooting of production and pre-production systems, and authoring frameworks and utilities to improve the efficiency of the engineering staff. Pilots, Rapid Test/Evaluation of Technology, and drive spike sprints for quick prototyping * Performs Value Chain Analysis, Estimations, Impact Assessment Design Documentation & Compliance/Governance * Ability to create documentation needed to drive the strategy, architecture and adoption: process/system flows, sequence diagrams, logical/reference architecture, solution architecture, capabilities model, standards, KPIs, etc. * Define the architecture & design principles, standards and processes for the team * Identifies patterns, frameworks, and performs value chain analysis that drives the realization of the TEQ strategy Hands on Time (Dev) * Hands-on architect who can develop, coach developers, perform code reviews, audits, and can provide clear direction to engineers * Drives solutions implementation.
