Position Summary: Responsible for leading a team of engineering resources to manage and maintain project schedules, build and maintain customer and supplier relationships, and lead process improvement and plant level engineering strategies.
Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
o Facilitate the development and implementation of the Strategic Plan.
o Communicate vision for team.
o Track and manage human capacity.
o Establish annual department budget in accordance with company policies and procedures.
o Manage cost drivers (materials, labor, discretionary spending, etc.) to ensure optimal plant operations while maintaining budgetary discipline.
o Manage and prioritize DMAIC projects.
o Execute new program launches and improve the maturation process.
o Manage capital and tooling procurement with purchasing.
o Drive cost efficiency in department, capital and tooling expenses.
o Maintain Minimum Process Requirement (MPR) documents and processing guidelines.
Develop and maintain systems to manage the daily functions of the Maintenance Team.
Conduct and participate in Problem Solving/Root Cause analysis for issues relating to maintenance/safety.
Assist in providing measurement(s) for energy conservation, environmental support, and continuous improvement ideas/activities to achieve goals relating to improved efficiency.
Promote safety and occupational effectiveness by ensuring corporate training requirements are completed, including those required by state/federal agencies.
Purchase spare parts and materials to maintain equipment.
Assess staffing needs, and candidate's technical qualifications.
Develop and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance procedures for equipment.
Foster employee engagement and people development.
o Manage the functions of the Engineering Team as defined by the position descriptions.
o Lead meetings with project teams; identify project objectives, deliverables and deadlines.
o Conduct timely and complete performance evaluations of direct associates. Ensure timely and complete performance evaluation of associates reporting under your indirect supervision.
o Assess employee skill sets, current and future development needs and take steps to mentor and develop individuals within the Team.
o Foster a culture of data driven decision making.
o Set department direction and hold individuals accountable to performance standards and strategic objectives.
o Establish and execute formal development plans for engineering staff.
o Execute to the corporate engineering standards
o Participate in collaboration between plant Engineering Teams.
o Ensure corporate strategies and standards are being executed in the plant.
o Influence corporate technical training in functional area.
Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, direct reports and stakeholders.
