Summit Technical Solutions (STS) is seeking an Engineering Aide to provide engineering, analytical and technical support services in the areas of weapons research and development, safety, reliability and survivability of weapons systems, test and evaluation programs, and new technology assessments on a DoD contract located at Dahlgren, VA.

The position duties include the evaluation of system level requirements, writing of test cases, scenarios, and test procedures to fully test the capabilities of the system requirements, execution of the procedures, data analysis, and the creation of technical support during investigations of fleet-related incidents or problems encountered with deployed ordnance, weapons, and weapon system. Specific tasks may include the analysis of failed items returned from the Fleet, fabrication and instrumentation of modified test items, test site set-up to simulate incident environments. Test activities include explosive and non-explosive open air and indoor test, evaluation and experimentation. This includes the setup of test and instrumentation per the required test plan.

  • Collect raw test data, conduct data reduction activities, and analyze test results.

  • Provide engineering, analytical, and technical support services in the areas of weapons research and development, safety, reliability and survivability of weapons systems, related test and evaluation programs, and new technology assessments.

  • Participate as part of a team to provide engineering, analytical, and technical support during investigations of fleet-related incidents or problems encountered with deployed ordnance, weapons, and weapon systems.

  • Conduct screening, handling, transporting, arming, firing, and other operational functions.

  • Provide technical support during the planning of specific test programs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This opportunity is contingent on contract award to STS.

Required Experience

Qualified candidates will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related field is required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Current Secret clearance is required.

  • 3+ years of experience dealing with the concept design and engineering, and test and evaluation of weapon systems components, subsystems, and systems is required.

  • US Navy and/or Marine Corps experience strongly preferred.

  • Specialized Certifications derived from NAVSEA, NOSSA Instruction 8020.15, NSWCDD Instruction, NAVFAC P-307 or P-80, or similar documents preferred.
