Position

Responsibilities:

  • Perform project tasks in the public and private sector. Participate in functions involving contact with client representatives. Work/coordinate with project team personnel. Perform technical functions on projects and possibly direct the technical efforts of more junior project team members on environmental, engineering, and construction projects.

  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, construction specifications, engineering cost estimates, and direct the preparation of construction drawings for various types of projects, including groundwater and soil remediation.

  • Prepare erosion and sediment control plans, implement environmental site design.

  • Prepare and review engineering documents such as Remedial Action Plans (RAPs), Feasibility Studies (FSs), and Corrective Measures Studies (CMSs).

  • Prepare proposals, subcontract specifications, and work plans.

  • May provide technical direction and guidance to CADD and GIS operators, designers, technicians and field personnel.

  • Complete data evaluation and remedy selection for UST, CERCLA and RCRA sites.

  • Conduct the hydrologic- and hydraulic-related analysis for the water resource aspects of environmental studies and engineering designs utilizing software such as HEC RAS, HEC HMS, WASP, TR-20, and TR-55.

  • Potential to participate in technical and sales presentations to clients.

  • Travel to client sites and perform groundwater and soil sampling, groundwater/soil remediation oversight, and other field tasks. Approximately 20% travel is anticipated for this position.

Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil/Environmental/Chemical Engineering or a related area. Zero to five years of related experience preferred. Direct experience with engineering design and designing/conducting environmental remediation are desirable.

Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software required; knowledge of computer-based engineering design software desirable. Experience and working knowledge of computer software for hydrology and hydraulic analysis and evaluation is desirable. Must be able to work effectively with other technical professionals.

Engineer-In-Training (EIT) registration desirable. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training is also desirable.

SUMMARY: This position provides technical supportwithin the Engineering Department in Harrisburg, PA or Pittsburgh, PA. Primary activities will be to provide supportfor various projects with public and private clients, with focus on Oil and Gasindustry (in TX, OK, PA, OH, WV, and other locations). Activities will include water managementinfrastructure design (impoundments, pipeline distribution networks, watertreatment). Working knowledge of Erosion and Sedimentation (E&S) permits,land development and improvement efforts associated with transfer pipelines,pads, and water resourcing support, is required. The candidate may be requested to supportother projects/programs that are also managed and supported within thisdepartment and the Harrisburg and Pittsburgh offices. Day-to-day activities will be directed byDepartment Managers on Tetra Tech's Oil and Gas Team. ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Design new or modify existing designfor water storage impoundments, to include aeration to maintain a proscribed DOlevel, maintain solids from settling, maintain BOD, while maintaining thedesired throughput/turnover rate. * Utilize basic water chemistryproficiency: TSS, TDS, DO, chlorination, pH, surfactants, basic treatmentadditives. * Pump selection and sizing. Basicpiping design (sizing). * Consider zoning, local ordinance, orSALDO siting requirements for new units. * Provide support to on-going and newprojects related to site design/layout and development for the Oil and Gasindustry, for drilling sites and linear projects. * Plan, schedule, conduct andcoordinate detailed phases of technical work in a part of a major project or ina total project of complex scope. * Interface with Client ProjectManagers, government regulators, other contractors and other representatives. EDUCATION and/orEXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Engineeringor related field is required. Minimum ofone year of related experience is required. Preference will be given to experience directly related to the Oil andGas Industry in particular that associated with domestic West Texas, GOM, orMarcellus and Utica Plays. Experience ininterfacing with state and local agencies as well as community boards forproject planning is beneficial.
