Position

Responsibilities:

  • Perform project tasks in the public and private sector. Participate in functions involving contact with client representatives. Work/coordinate with project team personnel. Perform technical functions on projects and possibly direct the technical efforts of more junior project team members on environmental, engineering, and construction projects.

  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, construction specifications, engineering cost estimates, and direct the preparation of construction drawings for various types of projects, including groundwater and soil remediation.

  • Prepare erosion and sediment control plans, implement environmental site design.

  • Prepare and review engineering documents such as Remedial Action Plans (RAPs), Feasibility Studies (FSs), and Corrective Measures Studies (CMSs).

  • Prepare proposals, subcontract specifications, and work plans.

  • May provide technical direction and guidance to CADD and GIS operators, designers, technicians and field personnel.

  • Complete data evaluation and remedy selection for UST, CERCLA and RCRA sites.

  • Conduct the hydrologic- and hydraulic-related analysis for the water resource aspects of environmental studies and engineering designs utilizing software such as HEC RAS, HEC HMS, WASP, TR-20, and TR-55.

  • Potential to participate in technical and sales presentations to clients.

  • Travel to client sites and perform groundwater and soil sampling, groundwater/soil remediation oversight, and other field tasks. Approximately 20% travel is anticipated for this position.

Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil/Environmental/Chemical Engineering or a related area. Zero to five years of related experience preferred. Direct experience with engineering design and designing/conducting environmental remediation are desirable.

Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software required; knowledge of computer-based engineering design software desirable. Experience and working knowledge of computer software for hydrology and hydraulic analysis and evaluation is desirable. Must be able to work effectively with other technical professionals.

Engineer-In-Training (EIT) registration desirable. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training is also desirable.

Basic Purpose: The SPT I is responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This position requires passing a data entry assessment. Functions performed may include but are not limited to data entry of test orders, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, centrifugation and aliquoting. Department is a production environment, with emphasis on productivity/quality standards and departmental completion times. All functions must be performed with confidence, accuracy and in a timely manner. Job is complex and requires that employee have good organization skills and ability to learn and understand specimen types related to test(s) ordered by client. The SPT I must have the ability learn and understand the compliance regulations related to test ordering which may change on a daily basis. This position is critical to quality for customer satisfaction. Additionally, since many changes do occur from day to day, great flexibility on the part of the SPT I is required. Majority of SPT I work, on the nightshift, but based on staffing needs weekends, holidays, on call and overtime is a requirement.
