As an Engineer EM (Emerging Memory) Media Optimization, at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for exploring optimal use of the company's emerging memory technologies. You will be a member of a small team of similarly focused engineers researching memory management and system performance sensitivity to system architectures and configurations, memory architectures and memory specifications. This work will entail analysis and prototyping activities ranging from paper analysis, analysis of characterization data and traces from existing memories and systems, software modification on existing systems and in some cases building prototype systems to demonstrate proofs of concepts. This position embodies the full-stack mindset focused on real hardware to understand pertinent aspects of the entire compute and memory stack from software to operating systems to hardware.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in computer architecture and computer systems design, including publishing results of a novel computer architecture or computer systems design research project in a peer-reviewed journal.

  • Knowledge in computer performance optimization.

  • Knowledge in high-level architectures of a modern, high-performance, shipping processor (e.g. post-Sandy-Bridge Intel and/or A-based ARM cores).

  • Knowledge programming in C or C++.

  • Knowledge programming in Java, Python, or Scala.

  • Knowledge in Verilog, System Verilog, and VHDL.

  • Knowledge in data collection and experiment execution.

  • Knowledge writing low level software that interacts with platform registers.

  • Ability to pass a software competency exam.

  • Ability to travel up to 30 days annually domestically and internationally to represent your work at company sites to review analysis results, and to customer sites to explain analysis on an application of interest to the customer.

  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends, if necessary.

Hours of work: Usually 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday- also must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary

This will involve interfacing with design, process, test, reliability and manufacturing engineering teams to solve product issues and production problems for emerging technology memory products. Specific responsibilities will include, but not limited to: * Develop new or modified Si measurements and statistical simulation techniques to more accurately predict and optimize read window budget, product performance and reliability in both qualification and realistic customer usage conditions. You will use these results to drive and balance Si technology and product design goals. * Direct and coordinate engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation, and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices. * Analyze and interpret test data and prepare technical reports for use by engineering personnel. * Work closely with design, process, test and reliability engineering to drive problems to resolution.
