BlueLinx is expanding its Engineered Wood team and is looking for an Engineered Lumber Tech Specialist. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter with a strong attention to detail. Part of this role is to listen to the customer and give your expert opinion. Communication is key - the right person will provide technical assistance and troubleshooting to customers regarding engineered lumber products.

Responsibilities:
Generates engineered wood product schematic layouts and structural load calculations based on provided architectural and/or structural plans.
Provides technical assistance and troubleshooting to customers regarding engineered lumber products.
Provides product selection, and product information, and answers inventory and pricing questions.
Prepares calculations/yield projections and customer presentations of a technical nature to gain new business.
Generate, improve, and maintain technical service tools, models, presentations, and comparisons.
Meets plan productivity schedule and remains current on technical trends in market segments.
Qualifications;
2+ years of related experience preferred
Proficiency with iStruct software is strongly preferred
Understanding of "load flow" through a house from the roof ridge to the foundation
Working knowledge and understanding of load development and load flow tracking
Must be able to determine the magnitude of loads
Understanding of wood frame construction, blueprint analysis, numerical analysis
Business knowledge, product knowledge, consultative selling skills (questioning, probing, listening), organizational and planning skills
Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Software
