Location: 689 Virginia Avenue, Atlanta, GA

Job Summary

This position will serve as a technical resource and developer within the Operations Support Communications group. The Communication Support team provides hardware and software support of the Distribution Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the Distribution Control Centers and region personnel. Additionally, the team works closely with the Technology Organization, SCS Energy Management Systems (EMS), and Distribution Automation groups to develop, resolve, and enhance communications to substation, transmission line, and distribution line remote terminal units (RTUs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise for the Distribution SCADA system.

  • Full lifecycle software development; implementation, troubleshooting, and correction.

  • Design, build, test, and implement Distribution SCADA solutions.

  • Support Distribution SCADA servers and network equipment.

  • Database development and analysis.

  • Produce and maintain software and hardware documentation and procedures.

  • Provide support and troubleshooting for the Distribution SCADA system.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields highly preferred.

Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience with application development required (use of one or more of these systems, for example, C/C , C#, HTML, Java, etc.).

  • Experience designing object-oriented based applications..

  • Knowledge of Network design and security preferred.

  • Experience with server configuration and management.

  • Knowledge of Database design and maintenance (for example, Oracle, SQL Server) strongly preferred.

  • Electric utility experience is a plus.

  • SCADA system experience (GE e-Terra Source) is preferred.

Ability to obtain Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Insider Threat Program (ITP) security clearance is required which involves additional screenings.
