Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems located in San Diego, CA has an opening for a Test Engineer. The selected candidate will be a part of the software qualification test team who will be developing, dry running, executing test procedures to verify software requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for development and execution of software test cases to verify subsystem functional requirements.

  • The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, and able to learn challenging concepts quickly in a fast-paced environment.

  • Developing robust nominal & off-nominal software test cases centered on improving the user experience

  • Work independently to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects at once.

  • The candidate will also be expected to actively seek opportunities for process improvement.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. .

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of Engineering experience

  • An active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain program access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of engineering experience in an embedded software development or QC/test role, or 0 years with a Master's Degree

  • Experience using software test automation tools/frameworks

  • Experience with IBM Rational tool suite (DOORS and ClearQuest)

  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Git, Confluence)

  • Experience with Java, C , or Python

  • Experience with Windows/Linux operating systems & Virtual Machines (VMs)

As the Systems Test Engineer, you will make a substantial contribution to driving the efforts EMC/EMI/TUV testing on Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) integration and Hardware (HW) automation. You will develop new products, using the latest technologies and resources, often realizing systems based on unverified specifications. You are responsible for * Leading hardware and software integration testing activities in regulated medical device industry. * Collaborating with cross functional teams to integrate systems and provide timely communications on significant issues or risks. * Anticipating, mitigating, identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware and software problems. * Monitoring, testing, and tuning system performance; provide system log files as needed. * Defining of appropriate test requirements and corresponding test strategies. * Providing effort estimates. Identify common trends on planned estimated effort hours vs actual hours. * Performing System Requirement, HW requirement and software requirements review to ensure that requirements are measurable and testable. * Participating in reviews of systems and elements under development to ensure traceability of requirements compliance through verification. * Responsible for the comprehensive test setups including related custom test tools. * Developing test plans and test procedures for all components at module, system and integration levels. * Producing high quality documents and written reports in a clear and concise style and in full accordance with the organization process. * Perform risk analysis. * Providing training and guidance in an effort to minimize procedure errors and that may result into corrections and deviations. * Make recommendations on system integration application implementation strategies, selecting suitable component technologies and platforms to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance. * Writing scripts for automation and repetitiveness testing to increase test effectiveness. You are a part of Our solutions combine navigational tools such as catheters and guide wires with advanced software to help confirm the optimal treatment at the point of care: measurement technology, procedure-specific application support and on-board imaging and monitoring with improved anatomical and functional information to optimize therapy delivery. The IGT Devices organization consists of three segments: Coronary, Peripheral Vascular and Electrophysiology. To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related Engineering field. Master's degree is preferred. * Minimum Three (3) years of relevant experience performing Hardware System Test engineering duties. * Familiarity with power distribution. * Familiarity with Gigabit Ethernet and TCP/IP protocols. * Working technical experience with Communication bus analyzer. * Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience * Prior compliance testing experience such as Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) or TUV testing with test house on medical device is preferred. * Experience with digital electronic devices testing and HW/SW testing concepts * Programming skills with script languages (e.g. Python) * Experience working in an Agile environment * Strong analytical and problem solving skills * Team Player, excellent co-operation and communication skills * Ability to analyze complex problems * Committed and Self-motivated * HW integration background plus In return, we offer you We offer you the opportunity to grow within the organization and Philips – working cross functionally with R&D, on various projects and initiatives to drive our products to our customers and be a part of saving people's lives every day.
