Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Systems Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

Systems Test Engineer Level 3 Global Hawk Flight Test IPT Support

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development, update, and release of test procedures utilized by the Flight Test IPT.

  • Interface with air vehicle design and analysis functions to develop test and test data requirement.

  • Conduct on aircraft testing as the test engineer.

  • Coordinate test equipment and personnel requirements for safe and efficient execution of test requirement.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the plans, test schedule/procedures for development, pre-production, and flight testing.

  • Interface with internal and external organizations to develop test and test requirements.

  • Specify air vehicle system configurations and coordinate test planning activity with flight test operations, instrumentation, and Responsible Engineers.

  • Identify and coordinate the availability of test resources.

  • Schedule and assist with conduction ground and flight test. Participate in post-test data evaluation and discrepancy resolution.

  • Compile flight/ground test date and define changes required in testing equipment. testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.

  • Excellent communication skills required, must work well in a team environment, and must work independently to solve a variety of complex problems.

  • Travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 years of Systems Test experience with Bachelors in STEM; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
  • Must have a current Secret DoD security clearance and the ability to maintain clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Systems Testing Engineering experience.

  • Prior Flight test Engineering experience.

The B-1 Aero-Model Flight Test Validation Program is looking for a Mid Level Flight Test Instrumentation Electrical Design Engineer to work on Edwards Air force Base in California. The ideal candidate should have experience in electrical system design and architecture for systems intended for aircraft test instrumentation. This would include design of power distribution systems including control and power conversion. Candidate will also design interconnections between instrumentation system components, for example, between single board computers, touch screens and supporting interface cards (data bus, Ethernet, general input/output), and the actual harness design (receptacles, plugs, connectors, sockets, terminations, shielding, gauge, etc.). Candidate should be very experienced in use of computer aided design tools, such as AutoCAD and/or Catia. Other job aspects include participation in the overall test planning process to understand instrumentation system requirements, and translation of those requirements into instrumentation system designs. Candidate will also identify parts for procurement and work with procurement organization for ordering and receipt. Candidate will prepare work instructions following Boeing standards for fabrication, installation and checkout of the systems. Candidate will also oversee operation of the systems during aircraft testing to assure reliable and satisfactory data collection. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): * Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship * Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry * 3+ years of experience in the design and/or analysis of electrical systems * Experience with technical problem resolutions at various levels: components parts, harness sub-assemblies, assemblies, sub-system and system integration * 3+ years of experience creating electrical schematics using computer aided design tools Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): * Experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting instrumentation systems for military aircraft programs * Experience with wire harness, electrical and/or mechanical design * Experience with instrumentation and/or data acquisition systems * Active US Security Clearance Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
