Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Work will be conducted at the Government site in Falls Church, VA. However, travel to various Metro DC customer sites may be required.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Technology Services' Global Exchange Service (GEX) program. The GEX department is a highly technical group of over 60 Systems and Software Engineers that support our main software product the Global Exchange Service (GEX). GEX provides data transformation, communication protocol adaptation and message brokering between multiple Department of Defense (DoD) Services and Agencies as well as commercial industry.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, supportability and effectiveness analyses for Dept of Defense (DoD) business systems.

  • Elicits, documents and maintains requirements, concept, design, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of system integrations.

  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

  • Supports system testing and collaborates with customers to derive test and production connectivity requirements

  • Interact effectively with senior level customers, including development of customer presentations, schedules, and risk/action item tracking .

This requisition may be filled at either level 2 or level 3.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Science, Technology related fields of study and 2 years of relevant experience

  • Must be able to demonstrate independent problem solving, troubleshooting, analytical and conceptual skills

  • Able to manage multiple tasks and meet scheduled dates. Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Demonstrated experience with deriving requirements, design, development and testing of system integrations

  • Must be able to adapt in a rapidly changing environment; a fast learner and self-starter.

  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, with data transformation experience preferred

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills in customer focused environment

  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project)

  • Must be a US citizen.

  • Must have a current and be able to maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

The position will support a US Air Force program that is playing a major role in strengthening and modernizing America's Strategic Deterrent Force. GDIT will develop and deliver a digital engineering design solution which enables and integrates the program's complete set of data, tools, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) activities, and makes them available to internal and appropriate external engineering and programmatic stakeholders throughout the program's lifecycle. This effort will culminate in an abstracted, highly transportable environment delivered to the Government, to be instantiated "virtually" on the Government's network infrastructure, and updated during the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of weapon system development. The successful candidate will have experience using Digital Engineering Environment tools, and will be familiar with the design and deployment of development environments using cloud architecture. The candidate should be able to perform high-level systems analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and implementation of very complex application that require a thorough knowledge of administrative and technical skills. The candidate should have experience directing and participating in all phases of system development with emphasis on planning, analysis, evaluation, integration, testing and acceptance phases (IV&V and DT&E). The candidate should have experience applying higher-level business or technical principles and methods to very difficult technical problems to arrive at automated engineering solution. The candidate must be able to design and prepare technical reports and related documentation, and make charts and graphs to record results.
