Job Duties
Are you someone driving by innovation, with a passion for community progress? The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is looking for professionals with land development experience, who can coordinate plan reviews with the district's responsible charge engineer, project developers, engineers and local jurisdictions for residential and commercial developments.
The incumbent will provide technical reviews for preliminary plans, site plans, detailed construction plans, record plats, and provide technical reviews for utility plans and other infrastructure plans. Will communicate with VDOT staff, local government officials, consultants and citizens regarding transportation projects, preparing correspondence, technical documents, reports, presentations, and demonstrations as necessary. Will supervise a team of engineers and technicians in performing duties and assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read, analyze and interpret construction plans, local ordinances and zoning requirements.
Experience applying land use permit policies, construction practices, materials requirements, and street acceptance procedures.
Knowledge of roadway geometric design, subdivision street requirements, entrance standards, road design standards, and other engineering principles.
Ability to develop, supervise, and direct employees.
Skill in the use of computers and software applications and ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
Valid driver's license.
Additional Considerations
Experience in land development plan review.
A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering or related field desired.
Experience in the application of engineering principles to highway construction projects.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer's (PE) license.
