Overview
The VIRGINIA Production Electronics group within the Payload Launch Control department designs, builds, test, maintain and update Combat Systems, with a focus on the Weapons Launch Console on a daily basis. Our group responsibilities range from requirements analysis/definition, design/development, hardware/software integration, system integration, test, delivery, customer interaction, project management of these systems, in fleet support, and modernization of the Weapons Launch Console. If you want the challenge of designing and developing changes to existing systems and hardware utilizing modern technology, the VIRGINIA Weapons Launch Console Modernization Group within the Payload Launch Control department will provide you those opportunities.
As a member of our team you will work with engineers, government program offices, vendors and military personnel for delivered submarines in support of engineering efforts that will extend to the analysis and resolution of fleet identified problems, assessment of obsolescence issues, and implementation of modernization programs to provide the Navy with updated payload launch capability.
Our group consist of non-degreed, degreed engineers, and military veterans with submarine Combat Systems operational experience that create a diverse and creative work group that produce weapon and payload launching electronics for US Navy nuclear submarines, a fit for an experienced or junior engineer.
Electric Boat offers flexible work arrangements that allow some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as other variables. Responsibilities may include:
Working with Microsoft Office suite e.g. Excel, Power Point, and Project etc.
Developing and integrating electronics hardware including procurement and manufacturing
Developing system concept of operations
Analyzing high-level requirements and documentation to define system and sub-subsystems requirements
Generation of ship alteration documentation and engineering change instructions.
Interpreting design, drawing and technical specification requirements
Validating system functionality through hardware and software development efforts
Supporting shipboard integration, testing, and troubleshooting
Supporting system test and environmental qualification plans
Supporting system operational testing, including procedure development, test execution, and evaluation of results
Developing system architecture concepts, including evaluation of competing alternatives
Developing and maintaining cost and schedule estimates
Responsibilities
Ability to obtain Secret level clearance
Self-motivated with the ability to think objectively and drive technical solutions to successful conclusion
Knowledge of Systems Engineering lifecycle and standards
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, as well as the ability to present technical/programmatic content to internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense.
