The Engineer Sr.
What You'll Do:
Provide daily work cell direction, establish priorities, and direct operational execution in support of specific program goals.
Ensure that accurate manufacturing schedules are available that meet program needs. Monitor performance through weekly status meetings with program teams and program managers.
Provide functional lead support for manufacturing engineering, planning, and technicians. For manufacturing engineering, responsibilities include performance management, recognition, coaching/mentoring, participation in the hiring process.
Actively engage in the risk management process (risks and opportunities) including continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
Embrace and promote use of Lean and 6-sigma tools / techniques where justified.
Optimize the work cell organizational structure to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
Maintain work cell strategies and ground rules for success.
Engage in strategic planning activities related to assigned work cell.
Ensure compliance with applicable Quality Business System (QBS) processes, AS9100, and government DFAR regulations; support related compliance audits

Touch labor performance by program
6S / housekeeping
Overhead budget status
Daily management board (visual management) updates
Staffing needs and participation in the hiring process
Maintaining work area sustainment plans
Cross Training plans / matrices
Monitoring and weekly approval of time charging for direct reports
Effective interface with internal/external customers and Ball management
Support customer technical exchange meetings, design reviews, and production status meetings with customers
Conflict and priority resolution for shops and service centers
What You'll Need:
BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
A current TS/SCI security clearance is preferred
In addition to the typical educational and experience requirements, a demonstrated capability to adequately perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and exhibit the skills and competencies of the grade level should be considered. Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room environment.
May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Support new business proposals with accurate basis-of-estimates for labor and other direct costs
Successful applicant for this position must be eligible to obtain a DoD clearance. A current DoD clearance is not required to be eligible for this position, however the successful applicant will be required to obtain a DoD clearance within a reasonable time after the offer is extended and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance. * US Citizenship is Required
