Applies in-depth technical knowledge and expertise to complex electrical engineering products. Support large-scale engineering projects or several medium projects while acting as a technical specialist for electrical engineering.
Coordinates, administers and provides technical direction to less experienced engineers. May research new developments and technology and make recommendations to management on their feasibility for Company operations. Support modifications to increase operating efficiency and /or reviews design and documentation of complex projects to ensure compliance with design specifications, schedules and any regulatory requirements.
May develop, negotiate and manage contracts and contract revisions. Interfaces with internal and external customers, outside agencies and regulatory authorities. Maintains a thorough knowledge of new developments and technology.
Must be proficient with computer skills. Must possess good technical writing skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, and Word. Travel may be required for training and/or supporting industry groups.
A 4-year bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years experience in engineering positions of which three (3) years experience shall be nuclear. (Professional Engineers License is not an acceptable equivalency for bachelor degree.) Must possess in depth knowledge of energy analysis, engineering applications, business, and finance, applicable codes, standards practices and methods in the area of assigned discipline. In-depth understanding of construction, operating and engineering practices safety rules company policies and union agreements.
Nuclear requirement: Any PVGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
Any PVGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are a condition of employment at PVNGS.
1.Responsible for system design and design changes, ownership and maintenance of the design basis, margin management, design process, configuration management process and output documents.
2 Perform technical analysis and electrical calculations related power plant components such as Motors, Transformers, Circuit Breakers, control and protective relays, Batteries, Chargers, and Inverters, AC/DC distribution systems, arc flash, battery sizing, breaker/fuse coordination, computer design tools such as ETAP.
3.Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
4.Perform engineering evaluations and design functions including equipment selection, system sizing, load calculations, product specifications, and design layouts for electrical systems.
5.Knowledge of and experience in reading electrical drawing/schematics.
6.Develops and applies technical solutions which require original and creative approaches. Provides unique solutions and applications to a broad range of technical problems.
7.Independently reviews complex-engineering analyses. Prepares complex engineering plans, specifications, evaluations, Studies, technical reviews, investigations and verifications.
8.Provides technical guidance and leadership to technically subordinate personnel.
9.Identifies potential schedule or quality problems and initiates corrective action.
10. Integrates the many interrelated elements of complex projects that are broad in scope, require considerations not previously encountered and requires interpretation and/or modification to guidelines. Complies with design, regulatory, operating and maintenance requirements.
11. Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures. Familiar with industry codes and standards, including IEEE, ANSI, ICEA, NEMA, 10CFR50.
12. Advanced proficiency with specific computer based analysis, simulation and design tools, such as ETAP.
13. Demonstrated creativity with strong analytical and technical expertise.
14. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with a variety of internal teams as well as external contacts.
