The Role
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
The candidate selected for this position will serve as a lead software test engineer for testing shipboard system software. Responsible for reviewing software requirements, designing test cases to evaluate the performance of the software, building automated testing processes, executing the software testing, reporting software issues, making recommendations to improve internal processes, and collaborating with other software test engineers and stakeholders.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
Nice to Have
Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software testing philosophies and have a technical emphasis in software, electrical, instrumentation, controls, networks, and automation.
Understanding of the software test lifecycle, test automation, and both traditional and agile project management.
Engaging individual who desires to spearhead projects and lead and mentor junior engineers.
Experience working with LabVIEW, MySQL, VBA, Azure, OOP, Python
Experience with CM tools such as Git and ClearQuest
Experience in Microsoft Office suite of products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project
