Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Quality Engineer 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The selected candidate will support Joint STARS aircraft, Programmed Depot Maintenance (PDM).

Essential Functions:

  • Perform Quality Engineering and Program Quality related activities utilizing skills and knowledge in engineering and/ or quality

  • Perform and support day to day Quality requirements, i.e. product and process audits, Safety of Flight inspections, and MRB document reviews

  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction

  • Independently analyze nonconformance and non-compliances to review and determine effective root cause analysis and identify process improvement opportunities

  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards

  • Identify and assess program processes and provide evaluation of processes and products assuring they are developed and executed in accordance with Northrop Grumman contractual requirements and internal processes

  • Review procurement/contractual documents (Statements of Work, Specifications, drawings, USAF Technical Orders, Quality Plans, etc.) to ensure compliance to customer/government contractual requirements

  • The selected candidate must have a knowledge and experience with Material Review Board Activities (MRB) and aircraft structure

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

  • Minimum of 2 years of Material Review Board (MRB) experience in aircraft structures and or systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Business Management

  • Familiar with Joint STARS aircraft structures and systems

  • Familiar with Boeing 707 aircraft structure

  • Familiar with USAF technical orders

  • Familiar with Boeing Technical Data

  • Familiar with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations

  • FAA airframe and power plant (A&P) License

  • Prior Aircraft Inspection experience

  • Ability to occasionally enter confined spaces e.g. Boeing 707 Fuel Tanks

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) is currently seeking a Manager Quality Engineering 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Lake Charles, Louisiana supporting the Global Mission Excellence leadership reporting to the, MS&T Product Excellence Director. This selected leader will provide Quality leadership and oversight for a segment of JSTARS program (IPT) along with functional responsibility. This position will be responsible for the direct supervision/management overseeing the Quality team for a critical major statement of work for the Joint Stars PDM (Programmed depot maintenance) Boeing 707 aircraft and depot maintenance experience preferred. The manager will possess the skills and experience required to manage a large project, be actively involved in daily operations to ensure Quality and Quality processes across all aspects of the PDM program at the facility. Should have experience with a quality management system and processes. Must be able to resolve complex problems, engage in planning, program performance, technical performance and quality. Monitor the Quality Inspection processes and activities associated with assigned statement of work for the internal supplier IWO. Work with Technology Services incorporating the best methodologies, assisting with training plans to improve mission success. The successful manager will be capable of quickly assessing and identifying issues, reporting and implementing timely and effective corrective actions for a broad range of factors impacting site and program performance. This leader shall have good communication skills and prime/sub-contractor oversight experience. In addition, manage an organizational group performed by non-exempt and exempt employees. The front-runner must also possess ability to execute department procedures that typically affect individual employees within its own department. Interprets and executes policies and procedures that affect subordinate organizational units.
