This position can be filled at either the Engineer (level 2) or Principal Engineer level (level 3).

Responsibilities:

Design and analysis of communications systems for satellite and interplanetary applications. Familiar with analyses such as link budgets, gain/loss budgets, noise figure, linearity, spurious, etc.
Requirements flow-down from top-level customer document to component-level specification.
Cost account management for engineering portion of multi-year program, including cost and labor estimating, task scheduling and earned value tracking
Prepare and present design reviews for internal and external customers
Subcontractor management (some travel required) and manufacturing interface definition including performance specification, interface control drawing, and statement of work generation, as well as continuous technical support throughout the procurement life cycle
Integration and test support for the communications systems including unit-level functional and environmental testing, spacecraft level testing, and in-orbit checkout
Work with others from engineering and non-engineering disciplines in a fast-paced team environment.
Some domestic and international travel may be required
Occasional 2nd or 3rd shift work and/or weekend work required.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or related field) with some combination of the following course work: antennas, microwave theory, satellite communications, radio-wave propagation, electromagnetics.
Understanding of communications and microwave theory.
U.S. citizen
Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance

Engineer requires 2 years of related experience

Principal Engineer requires 5 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

MSEE preferred. Hands-on experience with microwave component/system test a strong plus.
Ability to work with others from engineering and non-engineering disciplines in a fast-paced team environment
Good oral presentation skills and comfort with customer interaction.
Ability to write technical documents clearly and concisely.
Experience with microwave component/system measurement
Active TS\SCI Security Clearance

Principal / Sr Principal Engineer Systems (TS Clearance)

VIEW JOBS This position can be filled as a Principal Engineer (level 3) or Sr Principal Engineer (level 4). Duties include contributing to and leading specific mission, ground, or space vehicle systems engineering activities. This may include requirements flow down, tracking, verification, and the writing complex specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities. Tasks may also include harness interface design, Command and Telemetry database development, and space vehicle configuration modeling. The candidate must be knowledgeable in aerospace systems, spacecraft subsystems design, and mission operations. Advanced analyses relating to mission and technical problems may be required. Position will also include responsibilities relating to integration, testing, and operational readiness of spacecraft and payloads. The role may include interfacing with external customer technical representatives, internal engineering associates and program management and may also involve technical responsibility for subcontracted flight components. Candidate may be called on to assist in new business activities such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies and may include authoring sections for both. Desired experience may include Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS, Cradle, or CORE, and various analysis engineering tools such as MATLAB, MATHCAD, and STK. Actual spacecraft operations and related ground systems expertise is always a plus. Additional experience in any of the following areas is also desired: orbital mechanics, power systems modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, telecommunications design, risk analysis, thermal engineering, or integration and testing (either at the spacecraft or payload level).
