Job Description:

ArcelorMittal is seeking a Sr. DB2 Mainframe Database Administrator that has significant experience and is highly skilled with DB2 database administration and application development. This analyst will be the technical lead for application implementation/support, coordination of DB2 upgrades with our mainframe outsourcer, and support other additional software products on the Mainframe and Windows platforms. This DBA is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced tasks related to database design, implementation, operation and recovery, security, performance and tuning, auditing, troubleshooting, Project management, and technical skills. Also, a strong working knowledge in application design, development, and performance tuning. The DB2 database environments support the Manufacturing, Commercial, Manufacturing, Financial Systems, Reporting, and interfaces to other platforms, e.g. Oracle windows server. This engineer needs to be motivated and experienced to acquire knowledge of new technology proposing solutions or technical strategies for database improvements or future directions for the Information Technology department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Application Support for DB2 on the mainframe environment includes:

  • Responsible for application database backups, reorgs, migration between environments.

  • Review Weirton and Outsourcer planned or scheduled changes to assess the planned approach for the required changes, impact, and timeframe between the Outsourcer, Database, and Application support groups

  • Supports coordination and testing of DB2 upgrades on the mainframe and other mainframe software products, e.g. CA Unicenter for DB2, server upgrades, etc.

  • Provide 24 by 7 On-Call DBA technical support for database jobs, issues, and troubleshooting of application issues.

  • Provides technical support with SQL development with the Application group as required.

  • Handles performance management, monitoring, and utilization issues due to Application components and engages outsourcer or software vendor technical support when required.

  • Manages table changes to support application design and development efforts.

  • Supports application change management for migration of DB2 code, Stored procedures, database triggers, security changes to support production application changes and End users.

  • Knowledge of other mainframe software tools that support the DB2 environment, e.g. DB2 CA Tools, e.g. Log Analyzer.

  • DBA Lead support for Yearly Disaster Recovery Test done external with the Outsourcer, reviewing and updating documented strategy, assist with recovery, and perform testing for the DB2 recovery. Assist with open platform recovery coordination with other database recoveries, and Web servers with the Infrastructure group.

  • Support and maintain production to test database download and archive purge processes.

  • Uses ArcelorMittal Weirton's Change Control procedures for system changes that impact the DB2 tables or components that support online transactional or Web stored procedures, batch, or other environments

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 5 years DB2 mainframe database experience

  • DB2 CA Tools, e.g. Log Analyzer, Insight, QMF, TSO/ISPF, z/OS, JCL, IOF, ACF2, and TCP/IP Cobol.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Demonstrated skills in organization, prioritization, time-management, and decision making

  • Excellent oral & written communication skills

  • Proven leadership skills and project management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills/technologies readily

  • Mainframe and Z/OS experience

  • Supported SOX documentation, controls, and reviews

Preferred Experience Requirements:

  • 7 to 10 years DB2 database experience

  • Knowledge or experience with other software that supports connectivity from other servers to the mainframe, e.g. Oracle Transparent Gateway, DB2 Connect, MQ Series, Distributed Access, ODBC, etc.

  • IBM WebSphere Application Server

  • Job Scheduling tools mainframe and/or open platform e.g. UCC7/UCC11,

  • Systems Development Life Cycle experience

  • CL Supersession,

  • Experience with Oracle or SQLServer Databases

  • IMS DBA Skills

  • Handles Reporting Tool Admin and support issues, e.g. SAP Crystal Enterprise (Business Objects).

  • , ISPF Dialog Manager, JCL, IOF, MQ Series, UCC7, ACF2, and TCP/IP.

  • Understanding of Windows operating system, e.g. Windows 2008 or higher

Specific responsibilities include month end closing, journal entries, variance analysis, reconciliation, budgeting and inventory control.
