Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a NDT Engineer to join our team in Sunnyvale, Ca. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Responsibilities include:

NDT Engineer will set-up and conduct non-destructive tests to include Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Ultrasonic and Radiographic methods to determine acceptability. Establish testing procedures and methods, such as shooting sketches.

Monitor manufacturing processes and operations, conduct tests and inspections to assure compliance. Weld visual inspection experience required. Train and certify Level II NDT Inspectors.

The position may specialize in the areas of design, product evaluation, metrology and/ or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Some travel required. This position can be hired at a level 2 or a level 3.

Basic Qualifications

  • Level 2:

Bachelors degree and 2+ years of manufacturing experience or High School Diploma/GED and 6+ years of manufacturing experience

exposure to complex part geometry welding inspection, machining processes, experience interpreting product specifications, customer purchase orders and military specifications for quality planning and management purposes;

ability to read mechanical drawings, experience navigating and administering production work orders and processing nonconforming material in an ERP environment;

experience conducting manufacturing process failure analyses and corrective action investigations;

demonstrable experience working as a contributing member of an integrated manufacturing team.

Non Destructive Test experience

U.S. Citizenship is a requirement as applicants may be subject to a government security investigation.

Must be able to pass eye exam to start

Able to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or close spaces

Must be willing to work any shift, overtime or non-standard work schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Multiple Non Destructive Inspection (NDI) Disciplines (UT, MT, PT, visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.)

2 Year degree/certification from NDI Training Institution

VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT Level III Certification Preferred

ASNT Level III certification

Knowledge of NSTP - 278, NSTP - 1688

Experience with Phased Array technology

Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Salary Range 2: $97,500.00 - $146,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
