Position Summary

The Engineer will respond to and complete all general maintenance request's for room calls, public areas, meeting rooms, back of house, physical plant, and exterior areas of the property.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Respond to all guests for assistance, directions, and hotel facilities information.

  • Report all safety hazards and suspicious persons or activities to management. Adhere to all safety standards set by the Director of Engineering, the hotel, city and state ordinances.

  • Maintain all tools in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Assist in monitoring and maintenance of fire detection system, and help with any emergency evacuation.

  • Be available for emergency calls.

  • Complete work order assignments in a timely manner.

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor, such as shop clean up, training, assisting in preventive maintenance programs, etc...

  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

  • Maintains a polite and courteous attitude toward hotel guests.

  • Maintains a clear, uncluttered work area.

  • Indoors v Outdoors
  • Indoors 95% of the time, Outdoors 5% of the time.
  • Standing v Sitting
  • Standing 100% of the time
  • Work Environment -. Working as part of a team; working AM, PM & overnight shifts. Working holidays. Overtime may be required due to business need

  • Constant reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing (near, far, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision). Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, tasting, smelling. Dealing with noise of lobby area as well as phones.

  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift while supporting additional weight of tools and materials of up to 80 pounds.

  • Ability to push or pull objects of up to 500 pounds in weight with or without wheeled assistance.

  • Ability to reach in all directions while standing on a ladder or scaffolding at heights up to 30 feet.

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.

  • Ability to grasp, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 80 Ibs.

  • Ability to perform duties in extreme temperature ranges.

Education, License/Certifications & Skills (edit as needed)

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall, carpentry, and HVAC.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of property equipment.

  • Visual ability to identify items needing repair or maintenance.

  • Ability to multi task and prioritize

  • Competent with computer programs such as Microsoft Office.

Language Skills

  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Experience

  • Three years' experience in any combination of the building trades, or hotel/motel engineering

Grooming

  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Aspen Skiing Company Hospitality standards.

Service Standards * Eye contact should be made at a distance of no less than 10 feet from every guest. * A genuine smile should be offered at a distance of no less than 5 feet from every guest. * Employees should build rapport with guests during any conversation, if the guest responds to the initial statement with a conversational demeanor. * Guest last name is used effectively, but discreetly, as a signal of recognition as least once and not more than twice during any conversation with guests. * Before concluding conversations, the guest is verbally offered additional assistance with a statement relevant to the guest's individual needs. Essential Functions of the Job * Inspect every vacant/clean room for any discrepancies, report discrepancies to the housekeeping manager and/or take corrective action. * Hand out the cleaning supplies to the room attendants along with the room key. * Train housekeeping employees. * Direct and assist in assigning work to housekeeping employees * Supervise and inspect so that Housekeepers service guest rooms consistently within standards and in accordance with policies and procedures. * Ensure proper use of supplies by staff to minimize costs and avoid accidents. Understand the safety aspects and be in compliance with OSHA on the cleaning chemicals mixing, and storing. * Report and follow through on all necessary repairs through use of Maintenance Requests. * Inspect every room status daily in assigned areas, spot check stay-over status rooms as permitted by guest. * Make recommendations for disciplinary action, according to procedures. * Assist in the laundry and uniform area as necessary. * Monitor guest requests to be performed on a timely basis. * Update rooms for the front desk at the earliest time and assign rooms on a priority basis. * Perform final inspection of all work and follow through on all projects assigned by Housekeeping Manager.
