The Engineer will respond to and complete all general maintenance request's for room calls, public areas, meeting rooms, back of house, physical plant, and exterior areas of the property.
Essential Functions of the Job
Respond to all guests for assistance, directions, and hotel facilities information.
Report all safety hazards and suspicious persons or activities to management. Adhere to all safety standards set by the Director of Engineering, the hotel, city and state ordinances.
Maintain all tools in a clean and orderly condition.
Assist in monitoring and maintenance of fire detection system, and help with any emergency evacuation.
Be available for emergency calls.
Complete work order assignments in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor, such as shop clean up, training, assisting in preventive maintenance programs, etc...
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Maintains a polite and courteous attitude toward hotel guests.
Maintains a clear, uncluttered work area.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work Environment -. Working as part of a team; working AM, PM & overnight shifts. Working holidays. Overtime may be required due to business need
Constant reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing (near, far, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision). Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, tasting, smelling. Dealing with noise of lobby area as well as phones.
Ability to stand for the duration of the shift while supporting additional weight of tools and materials of up to 80 pounds.
Ability to push or pull objects of up to 500 pounds in weight with or without wheeled assistance.
Ability to reach in all directions while standing on a ladder or scaffolding at heights up to 30 feet.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Ability to grasp, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 80 Ibs.
Ability to perform duties in extreme temperature ranges.
Education, License/Certifications & Skills (edit as needed)
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall, carpentry, and HVAC.
Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of property equipment.
Visual ability to identify items needing repair or maintenance.
Ability to multi task and prioritize
Competent with computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
