Overview

RES is looking for an Engineer IV Water Resource Engineer with experience in stormwater drainage, water resources, and natural system restoration.

The mission: Join our team of 7 engineers and professionals in Florida to develop nature-based solutions. This is a perfect opportunity for an Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Florida focusing on stormwater drainage, water resources, and natural system restoration. The candidate will have the opportunity to lead general services contracts and projects that make a regional impact to the water demands in Florida. The candidate will also make an immediate impact on very unique and large-scale restoration projects that you will not see at any other firm.

As a member of our team, you will focus on projects for stormwater management, water resources, ecosystem restoration, water quality treatment, and improvements in complex watersheds, as well as solving unique ecological and hydrologic issues in various complex watersheds across the assigned state. Opportunities may also include projects for large landscape-level flood mitigation, water storage, water supply, aquifer recharge, and nutrient reduction projects related to EPA's Impaired Waters Rule/Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) and Florida's Basin Management Action Plans (BMAPs).

What your day-to-day might look like?

Our team's workload is diverse and varies depending on the pressing regional issues, but the position will comprise of:

80% office work

You will be responsible for developing and evaluating plans and criteria for a variety of engineering projects and initiatives; leading and/or assisting with feasibility and concept development for watershed-level stormwater management, stream and/or wetland restoration solutions, water quality treatment technologies and BMPs; identifying errors/malfunctions/omissions and implementing corrective actions.

You will use AutoCAD, GIS, and hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling software (1D&2D) to develop H&H models and interpret results from associated models. You'll get to flex your engineering muscles as you work on innovative designs that require developing new and/or improved techniques and procedures.

Work products are expected to be detailed, clear, and concise, so be ready to shine with your communication skills during the interview! You will be juggling several projects simultaneously, so superior attention to detail, feedback, and the ability to prioritize are paramount.

20% fieldwork and business development.

• Technical Design and Permitting Support: You will collaborate with the engineering teams in Florida and other regions to design and to design and implement enhancements to existing and new natural systems. You will assist with the development of detailed plan sets, permit applications, modeling, and execute

• Land Search and Conceptualization: Conduct land search of properties that could be used for a natural system restoration and develop conceptual plans that can be used for further discussion with clients.

Qualifications

We would like to talk to you if you have the following:

• Registered PE in FL is preferred or able to obtain Florida PE within 6 months of hiring

• Experience using varies H&H models including ICPR4, suite of HEC models

• Proficient in ArcGIS and/or ArcGIS Pro

• Participated in natural system restoration design projects

What will make you stand out:

• Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Agricultural Engineering with a water resources or environmental focus.

• Experience preparing water budgets and floodplain analyses, H&H investigation, groundwater hydrology, and stream and wetland biological functionality.

• Knowledge of watershed level hydrology, stream geomorphology, physicochemical processes, stream hydraulics, water quality, design/assessment of urban/agricultural water resource and nutrient management best management practices, aquatic ecology, and sediment quality and transport.

• Experience designing ecological and hydrological restoration projects, including terrestrial, coastal, estuarine, aquatic, and/or wetlands restoration projects.

• Knowledge of stream natural channel design, including geomorphology, physicochemical processes, stream hydraulics, aquatic ecology, and sediment transport in Florida.

• Direct experience with Federal/State/Local environmental regulations and staff and understanding of the Federal Clean Water Act, State Stormwater Rule, and other state and federal environmental regulations, and permitting processes.

• Knowledge of field survey and data collection techniques for streams, wetlands and monitoring wells, and water quality and flow monitoring.

Physical requirements of the job:

• Ability to work long hours outdoors

• Ability to walk 2 to 5 miles outdoors in various wetland and other rugged terrain

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
