Position Title: Engineer IT Systems

Position Summary

The IT Systems Engineer maintains the integrity of the JetBlue Airways desktop and server environment. The Engineer packages software for deployment and collaborates with the IT Security team for patch management. The Engineer also manages the day-to-day Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager activities including architecture design, lifecycle cost, and implementation. The IT Systems Engineer assists software developers and system administrators in the deployment of applications, security patches and operating systems upgrades. The IT Systems Engineer excels when working on complex projects, is motivated to deliver results, and exhibits the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Management and Administration of System Center Configuration Manager

  • Author, distribute and monitor Software Packages using System Center Configuration Manager

  • Management and Administration of Microsoft SQL Server and its operations relative to System Center Configuration Manager

  • Author T-SQL based reports with Report Builder and / or Visual Studio for use in SQL Server Reporting Services

  • Author, edit and deliver Microsoft Windows based Operating System images for both the Desktop and Server platforms using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (OSD, MDT)

  • Create, troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy Objects, Startup Scripts and / or Logon Scripts

  • Deploy, monitor and ensure compliance for the application of Microsoft Security Updates to Server and Workstation endpoints

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience and education

  • Seven (7) years' experience in IT; minimum of five (5) years as a Technical Consultant/Engineer

  • Five (5) years' of experience managing all aspects of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager including but not limited to (software distribution, client health, inventory management, patch management, installation, configuration backup/recovery, inter-site communications and reporting)

  • Experience with creating Operating System Images with System Center Configuration Manager Operating System Deployment (OSD)

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience using Orca, Admin-Studio, PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit or equivalent re-packaging \ wrapping technologies

  • Experience creating and editing Microsoft Windows Installer transform files (MSTs)

  • Experience with the PowerShell scripting language as means to automate repetitive tasks and carry out day-to-day systems administration

  • Understanding of how to operate within a mature enterprise environment (Change Management, Release Management, adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, Knowledge base article creation and maintenance, Etc.)

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification preferred but not required

  • Available for overnight travel (up to 10%)

  • Able to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short notice

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located[Field][Field]

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Managing applications that reside in hosted datacenter environments

  • High level understanding of complex IT infrastructures

  • Proficient at creating technical design documentation and delivering technical training

  • Understanding of virtualization technology (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V)

  • Microsoft Active Directory administration and Group Policy management knowledge

  • Experience with Citrix thin-client or VDI technologies

  • Supporting platforms/applications that run on Windows OS

  • Strong detail-orientated, meticulous, analytical and deductive problem-solving skills

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact across multiple disciplines

  • Able to work in a highly dynamic team environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid team and people skills

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment

  • Ability to rapidly resolve issues and recognize when escalation is necessary

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

  • Present for core hours but on call 24/7 for emergency situations

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun

  • Promote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards

  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
