ENGINEER INTERN (MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL)
Under direct supervision, the Intern will work on a multi-discipline team of Engineers/Designers to support various types of project work, in support of specialty metals manufacturing, including machine design/modification, installation, and commissioning. In addition, the Intern will perform drafting duties that may include creation of new design/drawings and updating existing, development of schematics, layout drawings, and general assembly drawings in both AutoCAD Mechanical 2D and 3D (AutoCAD Inventor and/or Solidworks).
While working with engineers, the Intern will be given the opportunity to perform calculations commensurate with their course work as follows: Cooling water and compressed air flows, heat transfer, static and dynamic loads, stress and deflection of machine members and structural frames.
Support engineering project activities and tasks such as data collection, field measurements, project design meeting attendance, and ordering of parts and components.
The Intern will be required to learn and manipulate the main Engineering drawing file archive system (Adept).
Activities will be both within an office setting and a heavy industrial, manufacturing mill setting.
Appropriate safety training must be attended (provided by Carpenter) and adhered to.
Qualified students need to be currently enrolled in a college program and have a minimum 2.75 GPA to be considered.
Majors in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Knowledge or experience with AutoCAD, Inventor 2010 and AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 is preferred but not required.
Experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
