As an Engineer-In-Training for Bridges, you will support the engineering design of structures. You will provide top-of-the-industry engineering services that are verified through a rigorous QC process. You will create connections with junior and senior team members. Your efforts will support in developing client relationships through utilizing cutting-edge technology, innovation, and designing infrastructure that will last.

As an Engineer-In-Training specializing in Bridges, you will assist in the design, evaluation, and analysis of highway bridges.
Responsibilities, Expectations, and Duties:
Assist in the design, evaluation, and analysis of highway bridges
Assist in the preparation of designs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and specifications
Prepare all calculations, construction specifications, and recommendations according to latest design specifications and local agency standards
Work in cooperation with bridge staff to deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within the project budget for local agencies, federal agencies, and state DOTs
Perform bridge designs and load ratings using spreadsheets, finite element software and/or other bridge software
Design or check retaining wall and other structural components in support of roadway or site civil projects
Assist in building a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation and structural engineering
Support structures projects across all Horrocks locations across several states
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
0-5 years of experience
Knowledgeable in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microstation
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings; ability to think 3-dimensionally
Have a strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
Prioritize work to meet various project requests and deadlines, answering to various engineers and project managers
Manage project data files from various sources
Be proactive and responsive in effectively communicating with colleagues and clients, both in-person and virtually/remotely
Ability to travel and perform fieldwork on occasion
Must be able to work independently with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks, with competing priorities
