IP Network Engineer responsible for the standardization andoptimization of Windstream's IP/MPLS network, performing analysis, designpreparation, and technical review for new implementations, upgrades, and/orservices. Provide engineering level support of Network Operations as itrelates to potential network design improvements.
Design and plan the deployment, maintenance, development,upgrade, and support of all IP/MPLS network devices.
Evaluate and standardize technologies and architectures inrelation to the IP/MPLS network and service needs.
Perform software and hardware exhaustive testing based onnetwork compliance standards.
Contact venders for support, faulty equipment replacement,and deployment of recommended fixes.
Author technical documentation related to IP/MPLS networkand device configuration.
Configure and commission network devices and manageconfiguration back-ups.
Routinely develop and generate audits based on network standardsand remediate device configurations to achieve compliance.
Produce periodic reports about the network activities,network performance, and capacity.
Engage in continuous improvement opportunities, and executeplans of preventive maintenance tasks
Assist in the development and execution for integration ofIP/MPLS networks.
Develop automation and other internal systems & tools toassist in the care and feeding of the IP/MPLS network and integration activity.
Attends various meetings with all levels of management,departments, and vendors to ensure company objectives are met.
Participate in project meetings to coordinate andcommunicate activities related to IP/MPLS infrastructure, technologies andservices.
Work closely with network operations and customer support todevelop handoff documentation and training packages to ensure technologies andservices are adequately supported.
Proven working experience maintaining a large network with complex routing and switching technologies.
Excellent knowledge with routing protocols
Advanced knowledge of traffic engineering MPLS-Based Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs.
Proficiency in TCP/IP and communications protocols that make up the Internet architecture.
Strong knowledge of circuit design
Hands on experience with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia routers and switches.
Demonstrate oral and written communication, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Understanding of maintenance process and tasks related to system administration.
Familiarity with various operating systems (OS) and server platforms.
Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl, or other language, is a plus.
