The Engineer III is responsible for performing advanced design and analysis work for various steel and concrete applications. The work includes performing and checking the analysis and design of large low temp (LNG, ammonia, etc), bulk storage systems consisting of foundations, structural steel, and vessels. The role is expected to work on individual tasks in a collaborative team setting consisting of Engineering and Design Drafting staff. Minimal supervision is expected except for mentorship and training required by Senior Engineering staff.

Matrix PDM Engineering is seeking team members to support our growing Cryogenic and Storage Technology business as we lead the engineering and support the construction of the energy facilities of the future.

Essential Functions

  • Apply engineering first principles of statics, mechanics of materials, and dynamics to find engineering solutions for various types of steel and concrete structures.

  • Perform and check engineering calculations for steel and concrete structures.

  • Produce accurate designs in compliance with codes and standards applicable to the project.

  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as required on structures including structural, dynamic, and thermal analysis.

  • Coordinates tasks within a collaborative engineering team including engineers, design drafting and project support services.

  • Support the development of Design drawings with drafting staff and review construction drawings for compliance with design.

  • Develop broad knowledge and skills in a specific practice area.

  • Opportunity to develop subject matter expertise in specific company product lines and technologies.

  • Assists in developing work instructions and other documents to support quality initiatives.

  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.Assists with internal project management, client, customer contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments.

  • Performs other related duties, as directed.

Essential Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school

  • 5+ years related engineering experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of engineering statics, strength of materials, and structural analysis.

  • Exhibits excellent listening, oral and written skills.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to quickly gain and apply knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Ansys, MathCAD, Excel AutoCAD, STAAD, and Compress is preferred.

  • Knowledge of numerical methods of structural analysis preferred.

  • Design experience in ACI 318, ACI 376, AISC structural design, API-620, API-650, API-653, and ASME Section VIII is preferred.

  • Occasional overtime may be required.
