EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer III - Manufacturing in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position is located in our Germantown, MD office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute industrial engineering tasks and projects to evaluate, implement and optimize the production processes and operational sequences required for satellite network parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.

  • Plan and execute the engineering analysis and formulate the overall production plans to govern the process flow for new products, implement automation strategies and establish assembly line setup; establish process metrics and monitoring solutions to gauge continuous improvement.

  • Lead the Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode & effect Analysis (PFMEA) for new product development; conduct comprehensive evaluations of product designs and development processes, proactively address critical factors that influence the product lifecycle.

  • Execute production capacity planning and develop processes to implement manufacturing best practices and managed resources.

  • Serve as the production engineering liaison to a range of related engineering teams within the organization and with outside vendors to coordinate the release of new products; provide input on production requirements and constraints to support the creation of design schematics and related engineering documents.

  • Analyze plans and proposals for new or modified production lines to establish manufacturing costs, conduct bill of materials (BOM), and time standards, and draft and present recommendations for tooling process requirements to relevant managers.

  • Plan for the collection and analysis of statistical production data to establish quality standards and to monitor and enforce Quality Management Systems; audit and analyze collected data to assess that product quality and reliability standards are being met.

  • Implement processes to meet third-party certification body requirements (such as ISO, UL and TUV), develop and manage certification documentation.

  • Continuously evaluate existing production and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for automation solutions, develop proposals for the implementation of these solutions.

Basic Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a field of Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering and six months of qualifying experience in the position, or in a related Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Production Engineer occupation.

  • As an alternative a Bachelor's degree in a field of Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering and 5 years of qualifying experience in the position, or in a related Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Production Engineer occupation will be accepted.

Special Requirements:

  • Six months of experience gained in an Industrial/Manufacturing environment formulating production plans and process flows for new products.

  • Six months of experience gained in executing production capacity planning.

  • Six months of experience conducting audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and certification entities, such as ISO, and Underwriters Laboratories.

  • Six months of experience planning and executing processes for evaluating supplier performance in a manufacturing/production line environment.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
