Engineer III, Data Science

Omnicell has an exciting new opportunity available for an Engineer III, Data Science. The Engineer III, Data Science contributes to data product development.

Responsibility:

  • Explore analytical solutions applying machine learning techniques

  • Provide business insight using statistical reasoning methodologies to answer business questions

  • Perform data validation, preparation and exploration with various data structures and formats

  • Create clear documentation or presentation of complex logic for various levels of technical expertise

Required knowledge and skills

  • Strong problem-solving and detail focused

  • Ability to apply ML techniques such as neural networking, Bayesian method or ensemble learning to develop business solutions

  • Ability to perform data validation, preparation and investigation using advanced analytics tool to generate business insights

  • Ability to generate the statistical reasoning to support the decision making process to improve existing rule based campaigns.

  • Proficient in using analytical programming languages SQL, SAS, R and Python.

  • Ability to work within a dynamic environment, delivering on requirements and deadlines

  • Flexibility with ad-hoc investigations and changes in requirements

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and other business units

Basic Requirement

  • Bachelor or MS in Computer Science, Electric Engineering, Data Scientist or other quantitative related field

  • 3+ years of experience in statistical modeling and developing machine learning algorithms

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or other quantitative discipline with a focus on statistical modeling, artificial intelligence, and mathematical algorithms

  • Domain knowledge and past experiences in health care, medication management, patient care, etc.

  • Experience and/or background in pharmacy informatics.

  • Experience working with Shiny

  • Experience working with Databricks

  • Experience presenting to senior management and executives

This is a dynamic and challenging opportunity to apply the latest tools and methods in Big Data and Data Science to a variety of business problems. The Data Science Intern will be part of a highly analytical team that provides business critical intelligence and advice for decision support. In this role, you will collaborate with partners in operations(underwriting, claims) and other functions to define problems, identify data, build reports and dashboards, establish predictive and prescriptive models, and deliver optimal solutions. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES * Research, document, prepare and/or analyze data using standard templates. * Depending on aptitude and skills develop supervised (regression and classification) and unsupervised (e.g. clustering and segmentation) models and dashboards (Tableau) * Effectively communicate analyses and insights from data * Meet with stakeholders to understand data science project requirements * Design, create and implement advanced analytics and forecasting models to optimize business processes. Provide insights for decision making through the use of ML, and traditional statistical modeling * Perform reporting of some key metrics as a part of advanced business intelligence support to functional areas (e.g. through Tableau dashboards or providing automated reports and decks) * Share knowledge with functional and cross-functional team members YOUR QUALIFICATIONS * Availability to work full time hours during fall and/or summer 2020 * A final year student or recently completed a graduate-level program in fields such as Biostatistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Demography / Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Predictive Analytics, Data Science, Quantitative Social Sciences, Epidemiology, Engineering etc. * Experience with Python, Pyspark, Hadoop, Hive (HQL), version control (e.g. GitHub, AWS CodeCommit) etc. * Basic skills in SQL to be able to extract data from database systems * Hands-on work or classroom experience with logistic regression, time series, forecasting, optimization, and other predictive modeling techniques. ML experience and knowledge of ML platforms such as AWS, libraries and programming * Hands-on work or classroom experience working with advanced BI tools (e.g. Tableau, (Python | R-) Plotly, R-Shiny etc.), Dashboard experience with visualization and automation tools. * Strong understanding of statistical/analytical languages such as Python, Apache Spark (or PySpark), Hive, Scala, preferably in a cloud computing environment e.g. AWS, Databricks, Azure, Cloudera, Hortonworks, Google Cloud, Anaconda etc. * Exposure to database query and management tools (SQL, Spark, Hive / HQL etc.) * Knowledge of or willingness to learn AWS environment where the above tools and enterprise data are being migrated to * Strong communication (i.e. oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation) skills WHAT SETS GENWORTH APART Genworth invests time, energy, and resources to create a worthwhile experience for interns.
