AECOM is seeking a full time Structural Engineer for bridge design for employment in Raleigh, NC . Areas of experience include: bridge design, bridge analysis, bridge rehabilitation, and exposure to design build projects. A qualified candidate should also have experience with Microsoft Office, Mathcad, Bentley Microstation, Conspan, and other structural analysis software packages.

The AECOM Raleigh structures team works on a wide variety of structural engineering projects, and is actively seeking a motivated, highly talented structural engineer to build the North Carolina bridge program. The successful candidate may perform all or some of the following responsibilities:

  • Work as a bridge engineer for a wide variety of local design projects including grade separations, stream crossings, bridge rehabilitations, railroad bridges, and design-build pursuits

  • Work as a bridge engineer on national complex structure design projects

  • Prepare and review technical drawings and plans.

  • Assist in the development of specifications, feasibility studies, evaluations, and reports

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • 5 + years of experience in bridge design, analysis, or inspection/rehabilitation

  • PE license in North Carolina

  • Working knowledge of NCDOT guidelines, procedures, and plans

  • Ability to complete standard bridge/structural engineering analysis and design tasks

  • Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and Manual for Bridge Evaluation

  • Ability to work with multi-disciplined teams and communicate with engineers from other disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Complex bridge analysis and design experience

  • Design-Build experience

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • MS in structural engineering

  • Experience managing incremental design tasks

  • Familiarity with local municipalities, NCDOT division offices, and the NCDOT central office

Work directly with other IT functions and internal customers to establish business needs and objectives. Proactively determine resource allocation, service delivery and performance objectives in accordance with corporate and strategic direction. Primary Purpose This position will serve as a technical lead Middleware engineer on work efforts for BB&T's Middleware Engineering team. As a part of the build organization, the individual will be responsible for design, integration, installation, testing and configuration of solutions within one or more of BB&T Middleware Engineering product areas. This position will author organization-wide standards, procedures and processes to optimize the overall efficiency, health and effectiveness of the associated services provided by the Middleware engineering team. This position will perform system maintenance, upgrades, and serve as the escalation point for incident management and problem management. The position should have a balanced combination of intermediate level administration, design and security experience in Middleware and related Security technologies. This position is highly technical in nature and requires regular off-shift, on-call and weekend work. Essential Duties On work efforts, responsible for the planning, design, installation, configuration and production turnover of BB&T Middleware Engineering components. Provide escalation support for the Change, Release, Incident, Request and Configuration Management processes for BB&T's Middleware technologies and services. Responsible for the installation, configuration and production turnover of BB&T Middleware Engineering components of solutions. Provide in depth technical expertise and direction in the development and support of Middleware services and systems; serve as systems integrator. Work closely with domain experts to understand business objectives in order to analyze functional requirements and assist with the design of systems architecture. Ensure the integration of servers, applications, and services in the Internet/Intranet/Extranet environment. Assist production engineering with system tuning, optimization maintenance and support of the applications within the production environment. Develop and maintain documentation for assigned initiatives and supporting infrastructure. Develop expertise in Middleware management tools, working closely with peers and customers to determine their strategic information requirements and to measure performance against expectations.
