Engineer II - Water and Wastewater Vertical Design
Join our team as a Water and Wastewater Vertical Design Engineer Il. You will provide oversight and design services for various vertical projects, including water and wastewater treatment plants, pump and lift stations, tanks, and specialty valves. This job will allow you to work operationally on location for these projects and in close collaboration with various experts in operations, planning, permitting, and construction. Colorado Springs Utilities is a growing municipality seeking an aspiring professional engineer. The successful EII candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of design experience, including competencies in water and wastewater systems.
Key Areas of Focus:
Contributes to all aspects of outsourced design projects, commensurate with years of experience, for finished water, non-potable water, raw water, and wastewater systems including developing basis of design report, 30, 60, and 90 percent design drawing sets, engineering calculations, engineering cost estimates, permitting plan, land acquisition plan, construction specifications, design QC reviews, SOP developments, startup and commissioning, and providing construction oversight
Contributes to quality control activities and constructability reviews for both internal and external design projects
Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure the technical quality of projects
Contributes to technical requirements for project permitting
Contributes to and reviews engineering estimates and project schedules
Attends factory testing and approves materials and equipment
Attends startup and commissioning of equipment
The team has the vision to explore small tasks for internal design
The team predominantly executes outsourced designs
Who You Are… The most successful candidate will have extensive hands-on, demonstrated experience in water and wastewater system design. A bachelor's degree in Engineering is required and being an Engineer Intern (passing of Fundamentals of Engineering exam) is preferred.
A valid, non-restricted driver's license is required for this role.
