The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB Corporation is currently seeking an Engineer II - Roadway Designer in our Salt Lake City, UT office.

The ideal candidate would have a working knowledge of Microstation and AutoCAD. The candidate will develops plans, specifications, and inspection reports as needed on assigned tasks to see that these items are complete, accurate, and in accordance with good engineering practice. The candidate will also perform design calculations, conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct preparation of design drawings and specifications.

Job Summary

Assists assigned department by performing engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery on assigned project(s).

Essential Responsibility

  • Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.

  • Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities- Develop engineering plans, specifications, estimates, and reports.

  • Develop design calculations and construction quantity estimates.

  • Is technically involved in the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigation and inspections, detailed design work, detailed checking of design computations done by others, and general coordination of specific project design aspects.

  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.Basic Qualification Bachelor's degree in Engineering 2 years relevant experience EITPreferred Qualification/Skills2 years of experience in transportation design. Working knowledge of Microstation, AutoCAD, Inroads or Civil 3D a plus.General Work Conditions Combination Office and Field Environment:

    Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client's job site, construction trailer, and in the field.

    Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
