To collaborate within the Engineering - Technical Department on engineering design and construction supervision for capital construction projects. Provide technical support to the Company's Operations, Marketing, and Purchasing departments to maintain rig productivity.


  • Work independently or with a team on engineering design for new rig construction, rig refurbishing / modification, and rig maintenance activities, including scope of work, drafting oversight and final drawing issuance

  • Oversee construction activities, including cost control and scheduling for yard and field construction efforts

  • Provides technical support to the Operations, Marketing, and Purchasing departments, including on-site troubleshooting

  • Maintains current knowledge of new drilling equipment and practices

  • Maintain current knowledge of new project management techniques and practices

  • Review, research and analyses internal and supplier specifications, manuals, and other data supporting team and project needs to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications

  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications; and, review and recommend capital equipment for Capital and Equipment Standards committees

  • Coordinates with sub-contractors and oversee their progress and quality

  • Assists in audits of sub-contractors

  • Participates in the evaluation of new equipment

  • Any additional duties assigned by management

Utilize current manufacturing/business systems for cost, inventory and purchasing information. Prepare engineering documentation for drawings, schematic drawings, material specification or other required data. Assist or conduct problem studies leading to recommendations for upgrading/improving existing equipment in field or lab environment. Under general supervision, perform product testing functions in a test lab facility and/or field location. Some travel may be required. Completes projects as assigned. Job Duties/Responsibilities * Incumbent receives assignments of limited scope and complexity. * Uses a variety of standard problem solving techniques. * May assist more senior engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring computation methods. * Duties are assigned with detailed oral and occasionally written instructions. * Work is reviewed in detail with guidance given. * May give limited technical guidance to junior professionals or technicians working on a common project. Job Requirements Skills/Knowledge * Intermediate knowledge of engineering standards including codes and regulations affecting design development. * Must be able to understand all phases of field operations and equipment with particular attention to department or work group's field of expertise. * Intermediate expertise with Microsoft Office Suite of products, Word, Excel. * Intermediate level of experience with Solid Works or similar engineering design software required. * Mandarin speaking is preferred. Education * BS in Technical discipline. Experience * 3-6 years of experience in design, product development.
