Title: Senior Technical Writer

Location: Prefer Irvine, CA; may consider other Conduent U.S. locations

Position Overview:

Responsible for planning, developing and maintaining product release notes, user manuals, Compliance Library, and other related documentation which enable customers and staff to use our products, tools and processes.

Essential Duties:

  • Create and maintain product release notes, instruction manuals, quick reference guides, online documentation or help systems, and multimedia tutorial presentations for end-users and customers. Writing technical content for end users.

  • Analyze the needs of target audience and tailor materials to meet those needs.

  • Study data and conduct in-depth interviews with subject matter experts to fully understand existing and new products.

  • Apply hands-on experiences in developing documentation for targeted audiences.

  • Index and cross-reference documents such as bulletins and manuals.

  • Edit, standardize, and/or revise materials prepared by other writers or personnel.

  • Maintain the document library to ensure timely availability of materials to internal and external clients.

  • Creates and implements documentation effectiveness tools and methodology used to measure, evaluate and improve materials and publications.

  • Assures proper maintenance of publications, materials, records and other related documentation.

  • Develops and/or facilitates training sessions as needed for content contributors; provides training guides, job aids and support materials.

  • Provides the highest level of customer service to customers, whether these are current or prospective clients of the Company, vendors, staff, business partners or visitors.

  • Assists and cooperates with co-workers, supervisor and management; maintains positive morale within the unit by motivating and supporting staff.

  • Gathers, analyzes and organizes data from CRM or software change control tools; prepares and communicates or files reports to senior management, etc.

  • Participates in and/or leads structured problem solving teams and applies statistical and other problem solving tools. Collaborates with others to effectively identify and resolve problems and conflicts.

  • Manages confidential client, financial and employee information with discretion and good judgment in accordance with department and Company guidelines.

  • Demonstrates a dependable work ethic.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the art practices;

  • Interacts with clients in a professional manner, as needed;

  • Performs and/or assists with demonstrations of software tools, as a technical expert

  • Collaborates with project team to respond to Requests for Information and Requests for Proposals

  • Provides expert writing assistance in response to requests from clients, whether informally, or formally

  • Helps to formulate cohesive documentation around software products

  • Maintains current documentation on all healthcare related Conduent software products

  • Functions as part of a professional team and is able to communicate at all levels, internally and externally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.

  • Five years experience in technical writing, user manual development, training and coaching.

  • Prior experience in this role within the workers' compensation medical bill review industry is preferable.

  • Ability to write correspondence, reports, technical manuals, user guides and training materials.

  • Knowledge and experience with single sourcing and using MadCap Flare.

  • Active listening and questioning skills required to reach appropriate conclusions concerning products and information in general.

  • Very effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop long-term business relationships.

  • Effective presentation skills, including the ability to adapt communication style to fit audience.

  • Experience performing and/or managing multiple project tasks as a member of an individual or member of a project team.

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly assimilate technical knowledge and understand the implications of information presented to end-users.

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple activities with changing priorities simultaneously.

  • Competency to utilize Company software and proficiency in Microsoft software applications and a willingness to learn new systems as necessary.

This position will be responsible for designing critical power system projects from the complex components of field data (notes, sketches, photos etc.) and the government requirement documents. In this function you will: * Prepare complex layouts, electrical schematics, details, diagrams, one-lines, and plan drawings using AutoCAD 13-17, relating to new and modified equipment specifications, as well as from customer engineering interpretations of the government's order/requirements. * Compile data required for project assignments and produce standards, notes, specifications, spreadsheets, and other related written documents as required. * Maintain contact with project managers, application engineers, product engineers and sales engineers to review and discuss information, modifications, adjustments, and progress of work relating to the design and manufacture of Eaton equipment being installed for the customer. * Maintain contact with Mission Critical Project Manages or customer representatives to resolve problems as needed. * Assist the senior design engineer in all aspects of mechanical or electrical drafting; recommend technical methods or approaches for project designs. Provide guidance to and assist and train less experienced application engineers and/or technical writers in all aspects of electrical design within the Mission Critical Team and recommend technical methods or approaches for these personnel in order to increase their overall quality, timeliness, and productivity. * Take a lead role in providing input and feedback for continuous improvement of processes and standards including critical involvement with the CAD Teams and/or quality improvement teams and provide a positive role in continuous corrective and preventative action and processes. * Develops critical power designs which may require the implementation of unique solutions that comply with all Nation Electrical Code (NEC) specifications. * Implement changes to drawings per government documents, specifications and field notes. Inform PM's to modify their SOW's that impact their documents. * Prepare Engineering Change Notice to accompany all drawing revisions. For design development, prepares all necessary revision documentation for design changes. Prepare and/or process change requests as required. * Collaborate with peers and managers to improve efficiency and reduce cost for component development and detailing. Involved with the Op-Ex team in the assistance of warranty/cost reductions * Takes responsibility for the development of a portion of the computer aided engineering system by creating custom macros. Help establish standard guidelines for the Mission Critical Team. For design development, is the primary owner of their project drawings and maintains lead role in all error-correction, enhancement development, troubleshooting and implementation. * Creates mechanical and/or electrical designs and/or CAD system enhancements for AutoCAD in response to a design specification or as directed by the project manager. These designs may be of a very innovative and creative nature. * Takes a lead role in outlining, estimating time requirements, scheduling the workload, and following to completion engineering tasks and special projects as assigned by the senior design engineer and/or project manager. * Written skills are a must. Proficient in CAD, Word, Excel, and Power Point. * Takes a lead role in developing and updating department processes and procedures. * Check work to assure conformance NEC Standards. Working knowledge of standards applicable to assigned products (ANSI, NEMA, UL, CSA, etc.) * Support Mission Critical cost reduction objectives. * Provide technical assistance to our customers, sales, and EESS relative to complex product design/operation, electrical schematics, diagrams, sketches, one-lines, etc. as well as engineering interpretations of a specific general order or customer design. * Obtain and maintain Uptime certifications to perform studies and reports as required. * Ability to travel and gain access to government facilities. >25% travel to conduct site visits and data gathering for evaluations. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution * Minimum 3 years of engineering design experience * Minimum 2 years of AutoCAD experience * Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship * This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.
