Verisign's Global Service Desk(GSD) is seekinga Computer Operations Support Engineer II to address all internal employeeand contractor technical concerns across a wide array of internal services andproducts. The employee will be responsible for systems engineering andadministration across Verisign's multi-platform environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to requests for technical assistancein person, via phone and electronically.

  • Analyze andresolve complex problems associated with IT systems, applications andsoftware integration.

  • Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques toprovide unique solutions to our customers' individual needs.

  • Provide Tier 1 support to end users for any

Windows, MacOS and Linux hardware and software issues.

  • Isolate andresolve hardware and software problems involving the applications, theoperating system, the hardware, the communications infrastructure, or anycombination thereof.

  • Install and maintain technology assetsincluding PCs, printers, network equipment, and software.

  • Analyze system logs andidentifying potential issues with computer systems. Collaborate with the

Engineering team when additional information is needed to perform rootcause analysis.

  • Analyze issues and spot recurringtrends utilizing Splunk and other analytic tools.

  • Operate, maintain, and provideengineering support and administrator functions, including active directoryservices.

  • Create, improve, and implement documentationof new and existing policies, procedures, and processes.

Support Engineers provide hands-on hardware support and remote support for customer software on Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. They also support networking and local server resources for their site. Regular activities include remote support via chat, pc imaging and repair, network troubleshooting, project management, mentorship of junior technicians, systems administration in a variety of software and hardware environments, telecom administration, and hardware procurement. The Support Engineer must have an excellent understanding of computers (both hardware and software) and a demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new technology. They must possess superior technical aptitude, written and oral communications skills, and the ability to deal effectively with people in a wide variety of situations. Additionally they must possess strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability. Previous experience exercising high levels of initiative, judgment, and diplomacy required.
