POSITION SUMMARY:

Advanced Energy is looking for an intelligent, motivated, self-driven, energetic Engineer to join our Reliability team in Ft. Collins, Colorado. The person in this junior role will work with and support the entire Reliability team in ensuring that new products are designed for reliability and that the reliability of new products is validated and verified - supporting the development of reliability test and validation plans and the execution of these plans. The person in this role will also support testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and continuous improvement of existing and legacy products. The person in this role will spend most of the time in a lab environment, working hands-on with products and test equipment, such as component-level testing, module testing, Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with the reliability team to develop, implement, and execute test plans

  • Preparing test and diagnostic programs, designing, and assembling test fixtures and equipment, automating tests

  • Collecting and analyzing test data and results and preparing and presenting the results and analysis

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly working in reliability laboratory with products and equipment having power output up to 60kW. Most products and equipment are water-cooled. Single-phase and three-phase power.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Safety-oriented

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with reliability engineering and statistical methodologies

  • Ability to solve complex technical problems with minimal assistance

  • Methodical problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once

  • Familiarity with systems engineering concepts

  • 6-sigma or equivalent statistical, problem-solving methodology preferred

  • Understanding of dominant failure modes of electronic products, subsystems, and components preferred

  • Proficiency in interpretation of electrical circuit diagrams / schematics and aiding in troubleshooting electronics preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with electronic product and power supply operation, safety in use

  • Stress analysis, margin and tolerance Analysis, FMEA, fault-tree analysis, risk management, test strategy development, derating, etc.

  • Reliability modeling, reliability allocation, and reliability target setting

  • Reliasoft tools, JMP, R, Python for statistical analysis preferred

  • Programming experience in NI Labview and TestStand, C++, SQL, and/or Python

  • Programming automation and data collection preferred

  • Experience with a variety of general-purpose test equipment use and automation, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQs, switches, soldering, water fittings preferred

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar, relevant engineering discipline.

  • Desired: Master's degree in engineering or physics or Master's degree in business administration

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $67,000 to $87,000 per year.
