Position Summary

This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of a regulatory based Process Safety Management (PSM) Program for Gibson Generating Station, located near Owensville, Indiana. The PSM coordinator will ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.

Responsibilities

The job duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop, implement, and/or assess policies and procedures for the station's PSM Program. Serve as PSM interface for the department and ensures procedure compliance by various groups within Gibson Station.

  • Oversee PSM system design and integrity assessments, maintains records from all audits and assessments

  • Ensure corrective actions identified for PSM systems are assigned and adequately performed

  • Attend meetings and provide information to plant management regarding regulatory compliance, code enforcement, long-range planning, and status of PSM-related projects

  • Interface with EHS, as well as State and local agencies, for PSM-related items/ activities, as needed

  • Support the site training staff by providing oversight of the PSM Training Program, including assistance in training and drills for the first responders, emergency response, and local community engagement

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering obtained from an ABET accredited program, OR a Master's degree in Engineering in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles

  • Understanding of the basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations

  • Understanding of the basic principles of project management

  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

  • Experience in the utility industry

Specific Requirements

  • Mandatory Hearing Protection Program

  • Ability to satisfactorily meet the physical job requirements including walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, working in hot or cold temperatures, exposure to dust, exposure to noise, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Must pass respiratory physical, and be able to wear all required PPE (including but not limited to full- and half-face respirators and safety harness)

  • Work weekends, holidays, overtime and callouts as needed

Qualifications KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS: * Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills. * Understanding of safety policies and practices. * Ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides. * Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. * Ability to perform cash register functions. * Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices. * Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control. * Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money. WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred.
