Nexant is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Energy Advisor/Energy Specialist/Engineer I to support work across Michigan who will be responsible for providing facility assessments to building owners participating in utility sponsored energy efficiency programs.

Specifically help customers with energy efficiency opportunities to drive energy savings. This role is an instrumental part of the delivery and success of the program. The candidate will be responsible for: working with building owners participating in utility sponsored programs, conducting facility assessments, and other related tasks.   • BA or BS degree is preferred, preferably in Engineering, Business Management, Construction Management or a related field
  • Minimum of 0-2 years of project experience or similar within the energy efficiency industry.
  • An understanding of commercial building and industrial systems energy systems preferred.
  • Understanding of energy use systems of commercial and industrial facilities including lighting, HVAC systems, and hot water equipment.
  • Understanding of controls and optimization and/or sustainability practices in commercial facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects and work with technical staff.
  • Previous relevant experience with success at managing multiple projects/programs, budgets, deliverables, and client relations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Proven time management ability.
  • Planning, organization, and self-management in a professional environment a must.
  • Must have a valid U.S. drivers license with a good driving record and a personal vehicle to visit customer sites.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional, high quality services to and build quick rapport with utility customers.
  • Complete facility energy assessments of commercial or industrial facilities that identify key electric and natural gas energy saving opportunities.
  • Clearly explain and articulate energy assessment findings and process for utility incentives.
  • Assist customers with completing and submitting program documentation.
  • Communicate and coordinate efficiently with various project stakeholders and participants including program staff, contractors, and utility customers.
  • Maintain quality control and manage on-time delivery of all deliverables.
  • Support Nexants utility services offerings under the direction of an engineering manager.
  • Ability to travel and work outside the office at least 30%.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Coordination and communication with multiple internal and external groups and / or service providers is a must.
