Pay
This is an exempt position at pay grade 209.
Attendance
Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday
Friday, 8:00 am
5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview
The Engineer I will prioritize quality service, safeguard the City's brand, and exceed expectations. Their responsibilities include preparing engineering design calculations, bid calculations, and cost estimates, conducting research for design specifications, attending engineering meetings, performing field investigations at project sites, offering bidding and construction support for public works projects, and assisting in the preparation of engineering reports and design amendments. They will also be involved in investigating construction disputes and complaints, preparing engineering studies and reports as required, and supporting Council agenda items.
Responsibilities
Must have good practical knowledge of general engineering principals as applied to public projects.
Prepares engineering design calculations, schedules etc.
Drives to and Conducts field investigations, visits to current and future project sites.
Prepares construction location proposals, engineering, plan specifications, schedules, and budget reports, as well as, bid documents for public work projects and the dissemination of the bid packet to prospective contractors.
Assists with preparation of design amendments, change orders, and other related documents as necessary for Capital improvement projects.
Interprets maps, plats, and construction drawings.
Creates plans for internal use and/or end user Departments use and assists in supporting construction of public works projects.
May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering
No prior experience necessary
A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
